I bought this 3.1 version because I already had two 3.0 64G versions and I knew it had to be great. The question was, what write speed can I expect? 3.0 is great, can 3.1 beat it? Maybe if the source can feed the USB drive at maximum speed. The hard drive I'm using as a replacement doesn't fit, I get extreme 3.0 performance that still outperforms any other USB I've tried. Product was SUPER fast - about 30 minutes. Then it failed. Regardless of the operating system (Linux, Windows 10, OSX), regardless of the system, the device appears as a 0GB removable disk with no media. Looks like controller error. Really very disappointing for the price.

It was amazing until it broke for me. I've seen a decent number of reviews here that also had bugs that sound exactly like mine where it just doesn't mount anywhere else. However, he was very fast and I loved him before he died.

Pro: High speed, large volume 256GB. Sturdy.Con: Runs VERY HOT, even in standby mode (no PC running). Since heat eventually degrades the electronics, I am very concerned.
