I love it, my third extreme.

I bought this 3.1 version because I already had two 3.0 64G versions and I knew it had to be great. The question was, what write speed can I expect? 3.0 is great, can 3.1 beat it? Maybe if the source can feed the USB drive at maximum speed. The hard drive I'm using as a replacement doesn't fit, I get extreme 3.0 performance that still outperforms any other USB I've tried. When I plug this 3.1 USB connector into my high-speed M.2 drive and buckle up, it hits up to 300Mbps. IMO the only decent…

Quality Control Issues?

Product was SUPER fast - about 30 minutes. Then it failed. Regardless of the operating system (Linux, Windows 10, OSX), regardless of the system, the device appears as a 0GB removable disk with no media. Looks like controller error. Really very disappointing for the price.

  • Impressive
Cons
  • Too long to wait

It was amazing until it broke

It was amazing until it broke for me. I've seen a decent number of reviews here that also had bugs that sound exactly like mine where it just doesn't mount anywhere else. However, he was very fast and I loved him before he died.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Sad gear

Fast, large capacity. Warm up!

Pro: High speed, large volume 256GB. Sturdy.Con: Runs VERY HOT, even in standby mode (no PC running). Since heat eventually degrades the electronics, I am very concerned. So far so good, curious about the multi-year lifespan? Disadvantages: Spring-loaded connector guide. I tried using the USB connector, which was tighter (but smaller) than usual, it just wouldn't go in, the spring is too strong. It made no contact for a computer to use. Totally useless if it won't connect to a PC.

A fast but poorly written SSD controller gives false warnings.

I've been using this disc as my PC repair boot tool for a little less than a week. That's very fast for a USB drive, beaten only by the Corsair Flash Voyager GTX. I've attached a picture of his tests - very impressive. However, there are two minor issues with the drive. First, the build quality is just terrible. You must push down on the actuator just enough to feel the entire actuator flex to loosen the bolt to retract the actuator. Just bad design. Second, the drive is an SSD, which is found…

The biggest and fastest flash drive I've ever used.

The biggest and fastest flash drive I've ever used is the best. See attached Crystal DiskMark score. I have a previous 128GB SanDisk Extreme Pro and was very happy with it, but it was filling up so I bought it when the 256GB version came out. Other reviews mentioned that the new, larger model was a bit slower than the previous 128GB model, but I found it was actually a bit faster. (Both are great!) The new black is different from the previous silver, but to my pleasant surprise, it's black with

Random Quality Control

Pros: Revain shipped it the next day for free. Very good price for 256GB rated at 350-400MB/s (can't verify actual speed). Revain's returns process is one of the best in the business. Cons: The retractable plug is not fixed in the open position with a switch; fiddled with it for a while and finally just pulled the plug by hand and it locked itself. I put a floppy disk in but Windows 10 didn't recognize it. It got hot at idle. Poor quality control for a $131 super premium disc. returned for a…

Update (09/2018): Added pictures showing how to disassemble this drive. 1) Using a 3/8" wooden dowel, knock the inner plastic case out of the metal outer case, 2) Use a small flat head screwdriver to split the black plastic inner case (there are cutouts), 3) The circuit board is encased in a white plastic holder that inserts and pops out; to disconnect, carefully pry the retaining tabs (four) with a smaller flathead screwdriver to separate file copies); after powering on for 10-15 minutes, the…
