If you have ever removed paint, rust and especially mill scale from steel, you know how quickly a flap disc clogs. Well it's no problem the rust, paint and mill scale break down so easily which is amazing and they last a lot longer than I expected. They work great with oxidized aluminum. I found these while searching for the best heavy plate scale remover. Tried serrated lock washers and grinding wheels. Flap wheels took ages to grind down the disc, while the faster ones also ruined the surface and left visible marks when painted. It took 20 minutes and 3 flap discs to make 3 1/2 feet 10 inches wide. One of these discs not only finished off the rest of the 14-foot dwelling, but the back as well. A hard drive.

These discs remove paint from my patio very well but wear out very quickly. This makes them quite expensive for larger projects. I'd say I did about 2 x 6 foot square before having to change rims. But they do the job, just not a lot of storage and a great price in my opinion. Harbor Freight's lasted 2-3 times longer. I don't think the material it's made of works well with an angle grinder because it has a faster speed.

I have always used chemical thinner to remove the paint but the base chemical methylene chloride can no longer be used so the chemical remover no longer works. I was skeptical when I ordered them but they work better than expected. I stripped the HD gas tank down to bare metal with factory paint in about 25 minutes and it doesn't warp or cut steel at all, zero at all. Front fender, rear fender, tank and glass look almost new. For the first time with a cleaning disc. I'm 100% impressed. They quickly cut through the John Deere yellow factory paint job on my old snow thrower. The picture shows a 42" wide canvas. I was able to remove all of the paint and most of the rust in just a few minutes I expected them to wear out quicker than a regular grinding wheel, overall I would definitely recommend them for removing paint or rust quickly and easily.

I've been using this for years to remove paint from steel. They work great but wear out quickly. Once you get used to it, instead of going crazy over it, you can make them last a little longer by adjusting the pressure accordingly. wear out in minutes, heck they even strip the chrome off the old bumper.
