Description of Quiet Scythe Kaze Flex 120mm Fan - High-performance Case/CPU Cooler Fan with PWM and RPM Range of 300-1200

Sealed Precision Fluid Dynamic Bearing: the bearing and the spindle are made of high quality compressed metal and are lubricated by a special oil film resistant to temperatures of up to 250C° / 480F°. This drastically reduces friction, ensuring smooth operation and reduced wear, which results in long life span and silent operation. Included antivibration rubber pads which cover the tunnelless mounting holes. These decouplers effectively reduce possible vibrations and allow low-noise operation. Newly designed blade and frame contribute high airflow with low noise, ideally for computer case, radiator and CPU cooler. PWM control offers wide range fan speed for various application and system. Fan speed: 300±200~1200±10%, Airflow: 16.6~51.17CFM, Static Pressure: 0.0762~1.05 mm H2O, Noise: 4.0~24.9dBA. Fan dimension: 120x120x25mm, MTTF: 120,000hours, Connector: 4-Pin.

Big fan of these fans!

I'm really impressed with how quiet these fans are. I bought two 120mm fans and installed them side by side in a full size ATX case. There was virtually no noticeable additional noise from these fans. There is a rubberized material in the four mounting corners which I think should help reduce vibration. I built my own PC and installed 4 SATA hard drives and added a graphics card with a large heatsink but no fan. In my case, I was able to mount one fan directly above the graphics card and…

Cheap alternative to Noctua

Before I bought it, I looked at some test reports/comparisons on YouTube and wanted to try it out with Arctic P12 fans. I also have several Noctua fans like the S12A and the A14. They're every bit as good as Noctua's in terms of performance and quality, but without the fancy packaging. I don't need very high RPMs as low noise is a higher priority, but the 120mm flex performs exceptionally well at its top RPMs. There are 8 gray rubber pads pre-installed, while Noctua offers 4 rubber pads in…

The scythe quality works again!

Setting up to add on the other side of the Mugen 5 was a breeze. Installs using the included clips from a previous Mugen 5 purchase without removing the cooler from the heatsink. Works just as well as the identical fan that came with my Mugen 5. My 3600 runs 10 degrees hotter than my 1600af at 48 degrees idle and 67 degrees under load. Temperatures were within spec but I still wish it was cooler. This reduced the difference by 5-7 cents. Use on Carbon MSI B450 Pro. I only saw one CPU socket on…

Excellent PWM fan at a competitive price

A lot has been said about these excellent fans. I particularly like that they come standard with 4-pin PWM connectors at a very reasonable price. The Scythe Kaze Flex worked great with my Z390 Aorus Pro board, and the screw holes matched my slightly aging Centurion 5 case perfectly, making it a "replacement" for my failed Cooler Master fan. If you are looking for a 120mm PWM fan without "50% PWM Boost", check out this one.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Great fan with great airflow and low noise

I bought a pair of these fans to use in a PCI bracket for GPU cooling (MSI RX580 OC). In pursuit of a quiet computer, the stock GPU fans were extremely loud. A pair of fans was connected to the 4-pin GPU fan header with 2 PWM headers. Both fans are GPU controlled. At top speed it revs around 1200 rpm but is fairly quiet. At maximum GPU load with Furmark, the GPU temperature barely reaches 80°C. The standard cooler was louder and the temperature was actually several degrees higher! At this…

Super quiet, excellent so far.

I built two of these as exhausts on a CM NR200 I put together for my wife. They're working great so far. Very quiet. And release enough air to keep the system under control. I wanted some black Noctua fans but they weren't available on the Slims and I didn't need a lot of fans from different brands. I'm glad I went this far with them. Much cheaper and works just as well.

  • Happy so far

  • Reliability

ATTENTION TO SPECIFICATIONS LISTED, ILLEGAL TOLERANCES.

Something that isn't listed on the product and I didn't find out until I've already bought 3 of these fans for my new build is that the specs come in as 300-1200 RPM / min PLUS OR MINUS listed are 200 rpm. Both of my fans weren't spinning below 600-625 (300-325 RPM higher than the specs on Amazon and 100-125 RPM higher than the tolerances on the box!) RPM at minimum speed, set in the BIOS what is significantly louder than idling from 300-350 when switching to a silent system. One of my fans…

Smooth and quiet in computer components

This fan is surprisingly quiet. My old cooling fan on my CPU has been making a lot of noise lately. So I decided to replace it with this one. The difference is noticeable, my computer used to sound like a jet engine taking off, but now it's probably quieter than ever. I read several reviews about this fan before buying, it is cooler and quieter than Noctua fans. You can use this fan on a CPU heatsink (provided you have a heatsink that supports 120mm fan) or on a case. This fan does not come…
