Description of Sea to Summit Ultra-SIL Compression Dry Sack, Lightweight Waterproof Bag

Ultralight 10-liter roll-top/compression strap dry sack maximizes space by compressing bulk items to one-third of their volume; ideal for backpacking, hiking, and bike touring. Manufactured from 30D Ultra-Sil Cordura nylon, with a 40D nylon air permeable/waterproof base; 2,000mm waterhead (the higher the waterhead rating, the more waterproof the fabric). Reinforced waterproof seams are double-stitched, and tape sealed, with reinforced stitching at stress points; secure hypalon roll-top closure with four straps for even compression. Cylindrical base has ideal height-to-width ratio for easy packing; patent-pending field repair buckle can be replaced in seconds. 10-liter dry bag is ideal for a down sleeping bag or large puffy jacket; open dimensions: 7 x 16 inches, weight: 2.6 ounces, compressed volume: 3.3 liters - 10 liters (with closure rolled three times).

Keeps my boating gear dry

This bag worked great on my canoe trip. We never keeled over, but we did get caught in decent rain. This bag is really easy to use and the compression straps really help keep the overall bulk down. The only thing I would worry about is the plastic clip that seals the top of the bag. It just doesn't seem to be of the same caliber as the rest of the bag. Until time will tell. I would consider buying other bags of other sizes depending on how good this one is.

Pros
  • Easy to attach
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Major Upgrade to Top Compression Dry Bag

Great upgrade to an already great bag. This bag is extremely waterproof. Compression + ventilation make it ideal for tight packing. You can actually pull the straps to make the contents smaller. It's good for clothes, sleeping bags, groceries, tents and other items that need to be protected/organized. This Ultra-Sil case is slightly less durable than the original. eVent compression, but I like this version better. The small 10 liter version (images below) is suitable for a very small sleeping…

Sea to Summit makes the best dry compression bags

The ultimate lightweight waterproof compression bag for hiking. I use it to carry clothes or when I'm very light in dry weather, a Mountain Hardwear Ratio sleeping bag that weighs less than 2 pounds. . It's lighter (2.6 ounces versus 4.5 ounces for the 10-liter). It has 3 compression straps compared to the normal one. 4 no ultras; The straps are also thinner and lighter. I use an eVent compression desiccant bag (white) for my 20 deg bag because it's much easier to fill without tearing outwards.

Description, photos and size are not correct for this product.

The website was mis-sized for this item. The "3.3 liter" bag I ordered was actually a 10 liter "Small" size from sea to peak. According to StS, the Small can be compressed to 3.3 liters, which must have been because the seller figured out what a 3.3 dry bag is. According to StS, 3.3 liters is size XX Small, not the listed product is 3.3 liters. Also, the product pictured is an E-Vent pouch, not sil 30D material. Check the description and measurements to make sure you're ordering what you need…

Well made, light weight, gets the job done

I needed a way to waterproof my hammock (Warbonnet Blackbird) in his Bishop Bag. All requirements were thus fully met. It's well made, functional and will keep the hammock dry during multi-crossing creek descents, a swim and a heavy thunderstorm with hail and epic rain. The hammock in the bag fits perfectly in size XS and compresses into a compact package. I like it. I just bought another XS and also one of the XXS for a planned kayak trip I have. I have no problem with the straps twisting…

Has held up well for four years!

I'm stuffing a lot of stuff in here and compressing it right. So far no failures at a seam. I haven't tested soaking or anything like that. I put my clothes in one and my sleeping bag in the other. I'm assuming they'll repel water as advertised and I'll wait a day when I get wet to see if they actually work. The best part is that the material really holds up. I bought them four seasons ago and have taken them on seven week-long trips already. I've packed and repacked them probably at least…
