It's definitely faster than its HDD counterparts, it's compact and quiet and it seems to perform well. I used it to play a 70GB game and it worked well enough. I had an issue that worried me - something on the line was causing a bad connection and it kept disconnecting and reconnecting. I'm not sure if it was the USB cable or the drive itself, but it can be a big problem if it gets disconnected during use. I checked the connections and as long as it's not broken it's working.

SSD disconnects USB connection on its own. At first I thought it was just a crappy USB cable. when i realized that the problem was actually in the usb-c port area. It appears that it was not installed correctly, causing the cable connection to move. Amazon sent me a replacement overnight. This is a great backup unit. It quickly copied my files to my hard drive. More importantly, it was very easy to find what I wanted. A few years ago the Seagate software was terrible and I couldn't find my files. There are a number of troublesome and unnecessarily complicated elements. My 2TB Apple Time Machine drive is full, and instead of having to worry about cleaning up old backups, I have this. It's AWESOME for that purpose. Super fast and hardly noticeable. The green light is cool and I love it, but to be honest it does its job "in the background" so I don't even notice it. I didn't notice any heating issues until a review suggested it for the speed functions. I really don't notice the heat. I turn my Mac off completely every night so it doesn't run 24/7. I bought this desktop SSD which I built in 2010 on an Asus P7P55D motherboard with an early I7 processor. Released in 2009, the motherboard was made in Japan and was the top product of the time.
