Big leverage, great cables, clumsy downshifts, pathetic spikes

Feels solid. Has trim. functions. I was surprised to get a brake cable/housing. Comes with very good ropes. I'd give it a 5 but downshifting is very clumsy, the supplied rear brake cable wasn't long enough and only two 5mm grommets were supplied. Luckily I didn't think it was broken. cable/housing and ordered the kit at the same time. So, I could finish everything but. It would be nice to be able to use the supplied cable with the supplied housing and to have enough cable lugs. May match yourโ€ฆ

Standard basic brifter, but still excellent quality.

These switches are inexpensive compared to more expensive models, but they do the job and are one of my personal favorites. These 3x7 derailleurs work really well for mounting on a cheap bike that doesn't have the proper derailleurs. They work like shifters and brakes at the same time, they get the job done and reduce the movement my hand has to make to shift. . for being low level they are still wonderful werewolves. The gear shifting is precise and they don't lag. The arrow on the front thatโ€ฆ

Tourney/Altus 3x7 Compatible

Historical Time: Every bike shop in town told me it was impossible to take my Raleigh Cadent 1 and upgrade it to drops and derailleurs without replacing all my derailleurs. You were wrong. I put them on, tightened the cables and I have absolutely NO problems. They work great with my Shimano Tourney derailleur and Shimano Altus rear derailleur. I didn't even get the tensioners properly adjusted (oops) and everything works fantastic. Fast shifting, smooth braking. Very happy with this update. Myโ€ฆ

. Took them as an upgrade on a Franken bike that already had a Tourney A073 crankset and had an old FD derailleur -TZ and an old Shimano TZ derailleur as I figured I'd at least try to match the derailleurs to the rest of the group. I really enjoyed updating and using the brifters (as the thumb shifter is pretty intuitive) and with a DIY setup there were no issues with the derailleur set. However, after many hours of fiddling and tweaking, I couldn't get the derailleur to reliably shift betweenโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Not sure

These are great shifters, but the position of the thumb shifter makes it impossible to change gears when going down the drop. Which is a shame, because with a gear shift indicator and a convenient thumb shift cover position, these are really unique and really good shifters. But I found a way to get the best of both worlds with this awesome stuff https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019EZD9WW/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_AWjgzb3GY6RVM. It's a malleable plastic that becomes hard at 100 degrees Fahrenheit (or less)

Events. Short circuit on cables.

Will fit on a homemade gravel bike from a 26" mountain bike. I think they should be. They come with derailleurs and cables, although the brake cables were too short and there wasn't enough brake cable housing. How As mentioned earlier, they don't provide enough end caps or tips. If you use a disc brake on your frame, or if your bike has a lot of cable housing between the lever and the brake, you should buy a set of brake cables and housings as a replacement. They shorten the brake cablesโ€ฆ

Good advice on parts and components

I bought these to replace the flat bar Shimano Tourney derailleur/brake combo on my hybrid because the wide flat bars that factory fitted did not please. To me, this hybrid was like a flat-bar, low-gear road bike, and it would do well with a few drops. I shortened the handlebars, put some screws on the drops and mounted this ST-A070 along with some Tektro linear arms on the flat part of the handlebars for slower traffic situations. Installation was easy, I had trouble adjusting the derailleurโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small home
