I don't know the difference between hard hose and ShopVac 2 ½" hose but it will not fit hard hose. You have to use different rulers.

Some vacuum cleaner manufacturers use a 2 1/4" hose nozzle with a 2 1/4" hose passage. 2 inches. Measure the inside diameter of the socket hole to which this device is to be connected. If it measures 2 1/2 inches this item will fit just fine. If the measurement is 2 1/4, it won't.

Works well with the 2.5" clear Peachtree vacuum hose I ordered from Revain. Excess plastic on the hose I had to trim off to make it easier to screw on. This fits my old slide connectors and seals tight but tends to slip out when maneuvering the floorhead (sweeping). Not that bad and I suspect sanding them down with the grit sandpaper 150 loop, stay inside.

My shop vacuum is also a blower but you can't attach any of the attachments to the tube when inserting it into the outlet as it inserts its male end into the blower. The jet nozzle has a female end, so I was looking for a male to male adapter. There doesn't seem to be such a thing. I put two of them back to back and glued them together and now I have a male to male adapter that works great.

So I bought a 2 1/2 inch clear dust collection tube. They fit perfectly on the hose, no problem. However, they don't fit on it well for my 4 to 2 1/2 right hand dust proof adapter. There was some ambiguous information about the connector OD, so I took a chance. Hard to find 2 1/4" hose ends. It doesn't fully fit the dust proof adapter. I have yet to test it on my planer and other tools, but I bought it for the dust adapter first. Again, I can make it fit, just not as intended.

Assembling a permanent stationary dust extraction system for my workshop using an old Craftsman vacuum. I bought 50ft 2 1/2" clear PVC hose and clamps. Fits POWERTEC 70200 2-1/2" 3 Machine Dust Extraction Kit and POWERTEC 70208 Flexible Dust Extraction Hose Kit. Also compatible with 2-1/2" FULTON anti-static translucent PVC hose. Forget the claim that these 2.5" OD hoses are NOT compatible with the 2.5" 1/4" outer hose that comes standard with shop vacuums.
