Already a big ROI - kayaking

3 days after purchase and installation I flipped my kayak. Kayaking on the LAKE for the first time in my life. All 3 rods I had on board jumped out straight away! I probably saved $300.

Lifebelt for your fishing rods

This item is priceless; Period! Before I bought these rod storage devices, I lost $250 on rods and reels kayaking because they went overboard and submerged over 35 feet. This will never happen again!

Suitable for still water Suitable for water sports

I bought these after losing 2 rods in the river. They work when you're fast. It keeps your pole afloat long enough to be grabbed, which is what I needed. They're not very good at currant, but maybe they'd be okay if used on a calm lake.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

  • Repair

Looked good at first.

It seemed like they could be great, but I just found them annoying. Yes they will keep your rod from drowning but there have been times when my line has caught on it after the cast or when retrieving to the point where I had just taken it off. I could kind of use them on other gear but I won't be using them on my rods. I think if they had a smoother texture and better webbing it might prevent the braided line from sticking to it.

Works as advertised.

Works well with my new IM6 medium-duty graphite rod, but doesn't fit my old Berkeley lightning rod because the rod is thicker. There is an issue with the leash getting caught in the velcro but I fixed it with some quick duct tape. Be sure to heat the tape slightly so it sticks well. Have used similar tape for other things and heating the tape will make it last a lot longer. Do not overtighten the tape, just enough to pull the tape over the edges of the Velcro. Should last until the season. Myโ€ฆ

Essential for kayakers!

I got them because I'm a kayak fisherman and I've lost a lot of pliers but not (yet) my fishing rod! I never lose a pole with them. I tested them to make sure they really float. There are just a few things that bother me a little, but that's the nature of the product that probably can't be improved. It's easy to catch hooks on them, but they're easy to remove. It also requires a bit of tweaking to fit in my stand up rod holder at home. Again, by no means a deal breaker. For the price you can'tโ€ฆ

Cheap "insurance " for your investment

Bought on the recommendation of a friend who is a kayak fisherman to get his investment (rod and reel) back if the rod and reel ends up in the water. Two days after attaching it to my rods, one of my rods fell out of the rod holder after my kayak swayed the large wake of a passing fishing boat. I have personally witnessed how the float kept my rod from sinking and allowed me to pick it up easily after the water had settled from the wake. Thank you for the product! A few dollars spent on thisโ€ฆ

Kayak fishing

I went camping with a tourist kayak for the first time this year. I bought them wondering if they would work practically with my rods and surprisingly they worked very well. I (deliberately) tested them in the lake several times to see if they would float if I ever got into trouble and capsized. My biggest fear was kayaking, and all of my gear (that I had acquired over the years) ended up at the bottom of the lake. This cheap little float kept my rods from submerging even when I did. They don't

Saved my $650 rig and attached Calico bass

I had to review this product because it saved my Avet LX 2speed on a ShimanoTallus bar. I fish on a jet ski and I usually tie all my gear to my rod holders with lines. But constantly tying and untying them and getting tangled can be a real pain. So I ditched the straps but still wanted some protection in case the rod falls overboard. I had them on my gear anyway, and to be honest I didn't have much hope that they would fit my heavier gear. I was trolling when I got hit really hard, I must haveโ€ฆ
