My problem was best solved in fuel pump

My 25hp Evinrude backfired when accelerating. After some research I decided to try and rebuild the fuel pump. This kit solved the problem easily. Thank you Sierra!

Check your parts. for fuel pump

Diaphragm too small. The seals were pretty good, but the diaphragm is perhaps the most important part of the pump. Maybe it was just a bad kit as Sierras are usually high quality.

This kit was listed for my 40hp Johnson. The engine wasn't even close. This prompted me to send it back with an order for a new replacement fuel pump which required some modifications but works fantastic.

Great product - reasonable price

Great product - reasonable price. I ordered this as it was cheaper on Revain Prime than any other site I found. It is not easy to install correctly. It took three tries with tweezers to get the damn opening right. This will be the case with every set. I guess I don't know the trick to just install it. Took about 40 minutes to remove all the seals and dampers to replace with new parts, oops - remove, tighten, oops - remove, then re-tighten the diaphragm and tighten everything. Then let it run…
