🔧 Enhanced Teleflex 18-7817 Fuel Pump Kit Review

Not sure if I had a clogged carburetor or a clogged fuel filter but the engine ran fine at lower rpm but stalled more quickly. Check out the online video where the guy does it in about 10 minutes, it took me probably 5. Now the engine runs great, the difference is day and night. For the price it's not a problem.

Gasket material not as good as OEM. It also came with no instructions which made it difficult to figure out how to install the two different types of check valve discs that were supplied. Both types of discs were made from a different material than the original ones. "Experts" on the internet had differing opinions on the correct way to install Sierra drives, so I went to the local marina and bought a Mercury kit and threw it away.

Very disappointed. Received the kit today only to see that the two black rubber check valves (clearly seen in the kit photo on the website) are MISSING from the kit. This renders the whole set unusable. Come on Sierra International, at least make sure that kit you're sending is ready. Needless to say, I am returning this kit for a refund. At least another week delay for my outboard to be repaired. Dissatisfied!

All parts were included. I watched videos on YouTube before I started. The guy in the video, the one in the background of the Robin Hood movie, pushed the locking pins in the plastic holder with great effort and bent the pin. I did, too, until realizing that the pen and holder were probably molded together. Once you separate the stylus from the locking clip, the stylus slides in easily. TRANSMIT KNOWLEDGE! Make life easier for yourself.

Some of the parts included in the kit seemed to be of poor quality so I reused some old parts such as: B. the pins that hold the valves. Overall this kit solved an issue where the engine ran fine until I revved it up to around 3500rpm and then stalled and had difficulty or wouldn't start again until I pumped the system back up. This fuel pump kit is a good product but I found that the pins that hold the small check valves do not hold them properly after installation so I started it, worked a few minutes and turned it off, i removed it from the motor and disassembled one of the locking pins which was slipping because the pins aren't strong enough to stay in. I put a tiny drop of cement on each pin, reassembled the fuel pump and it worked fine in all respects so just a warning about these pins could be a problem. The…

Great little kit, worked on my Mercury 115. As someone else mentioned you don't need the big spacer in the middle of the picture. My factory Merc fuel pump didn't have a rubber washer in the check valve, just a plastic washer, even though the service manual says so. A little weird.
