The price/quality ratio is great, I will buy again.

Compared with Tamron 85 1.8. The one, although lighter, smaller, loses in sharpness and contrast in the open. Probably the perfect 85mm lens for portraits if you don't mind the extra pounds in your bag and hand. Got pros: The highest quality lens. 1. Damn sharp wide open, even when shooting very distant objects, very rich colors, excellent blur. 2. Round aperture 3. Fast and quiet AF, it feels like there is no noticeable difference in speed and sound when compared with L-series fixes. 4…

I like it but wish the focus and calibration was better.

I would give this lens 5 stars, but calibrating it was a headache (even with the docking system) and it's still maybe an inch off. It needs to be calibrated or the focus will be disabled. However, it has trouble focusing in autofocus mode. Even after all that, I will say this is an amazing lens. Images are crystal clear and the background is creamy blurred. It's a heavy lens, it weighs more than my camera and the glass is huge. It feels premium and takes quality photos. With 85mm you have to…

very strong chromatic aberration in stars

I bought this lens for astrophotography to get a slightly wider field of view than my Samyang 135mm. The reviews for this lens were good and I spent several nights photographing the Orion Nebula. It could be seen that with the aperture wide open (f/1.4) all the bright stars in the viewfinder look purple. Looking at the footage afterwards, large purple halos can be seen around all of the bright stars. This effect persists until about f/2.8, so you actually have to close the lens to avoid it…

replaces my 85L - camera & photo

I've been using an 85L lens for a long time and was reluctant to lose a quarter stop of light and incredible bokeh. However, the shortcomings of the 85L became more and more of a problem for me. Chromatic aberrations are really bad at wide apertures and focusing speed is lacking. I'm a portrait photographer and with young kids (who can't sit still) the 85L was in my bag while I used the trusted 70-200 f2.8L. Having had and loved the 35 ART I was very excited to try the new 85 ART. I have to say

SIGMA 85mm is a legend (wait.) DARY!

Man I love this 85mm lens. Autofocus is fast and quiet, image quality is crisp, and bokeh (background blur effect) is smooth and consistent with every shot. I mainly use this lens for portrait and product photography and it's a killer. The build quality is very good and durable, just like any SIGMA lens. This lens actually seems a bit lighter than my 24-70mm, which was a surprise. I may be wrong, but I noticed a difference. At f/1.4, this thing really works flawlessly in low light. I am very…

Urgently needs to be calibrated. Front focus, back focus, I give up

I wanted to love this lens as I have a 35mm f/1.4 piece of art and only have positive things to say about this lens. I thought the 85mm 1.4 art would be the same, just in portrait mode. I don't care about weight. Weight gives me a sense of quality. But nicely put together. Autofocus - Canine. I kept missing on my D800. I've tried fine-tuning the autofocus in the camera, but the results aren't stable. I'm afraid the lens only needs to be calibrated by Sigma. I'm not doing this in hopes of…

WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG? This lens is amazing!

I am a senior portrait photographer and have been using my Nikon 50mm 1.4 for many years. I've looked at this Sigma 85 Art since it came out but could never justify a purchase as my 50mm lens was on my camera almost 90% of the time and my clients loved their pictures. With Covid-19 I had to rethink how I shoot and I didn't want to be right in front of my clients so I finally bit the bullet and bought this lens and oh my god it blows my mind! I also have a Sigma 35mm Art lens so I knew it would…

Near perfect lens with great potential and application

I bought this lens about 3-4 months ago and have used it a lot since then. I was a big fan of Sigma and the Art series lives up to the hype. Image quality, sharpness, bokeh, color and autofocus are amazing. It's heavy and big, but well balanced and comfortable. I was used to holding much larger lenses, so the size and scope of the lens didn't bother me at all. Low light performance is very impressive with minimal searching and searching. Barrel distortion is practically non-existent. Some…

Best Cat Lens for $1200! (Satire and Seriousness)

Note: This lens has a T-STOP of 1.7 (for any filmmaker or photographer who cares). So the backlight is pretty good. Not ideal at about half a stop, but it's far from bad. At first I thought this is crazy, why would I spend $1200 on a lens just to photograph my cat? But then I got the lens and I have to say it is by far the BEST cat lens out there. I would say though that I would like some weather protection or at least some drool protection! I started taking photos of my cat and damn I was…

One of the best deals, glad I bought this.

To make it clear that I understand what I am writing about, I will only say that I have always worked with 85s from kenon, from the beginning of the first version and then the second. This is a lens that I considered as the best of mine, and I have almost the entire L line. I can afford to buy a lens for trial, work and if I sell anything, I do this very often and thus worked with a large number of lenses. So that's actually what I'll say about sigma - it tears 85 1.2 canon to shreds, and this…

Pros
  • Sharp, fast, can be photographed close, beautiful and well-assembled, not ruinous.
Cons
  • Of the minuses, I can note the weight and size, so-so minuses of course, the size is large, but not critical, the weight is 100 grams heavier than the analogue from Canon, but not to say that you directly notice this difference, you notice the difference in the pros strongly, but here . well maybe for a girl to carry such an entire wedding is a little more difficult. Since I started criticism here, I’ll compare it with the new canon 85 1.4 with stabikom 1 sharpness is not so obvious, but judging by the tests of the-digital-picture com, and this is a very professional resource, sigma is still ahead, this is especially obvious in the corners and along the edges. 2 sigma screwing is better, 3 minimum distance exactly the same 4 weight, here canon in all its glory 180 grams of difference is a very good result, the size, by the way, is not so different, mainly in diameter. 5 stub in canon is a strong argument. 6 price - somewhere 30% more expensive As a conclusion for yourself - be sure to take, drive this lens.

The best thing Ive ever used, a great item for everyone!

In general, everything has already been written about him. Switched from EX85, which I really liked. But after buying art, the soul stopped lying to the old one. The "make a masterpiece" button is built into the glass by default. On hole 1.4 excellent sharpness. Focus is faster than canon 1.2 and the old sigma, something on the brand, something on the erc. 86mm filters are a pain. The most affordable of the normal for the summer of 2022: KF UV - 1000RR, KF ND Vario - 6000RR.
