If you need to speed up an old drive get this

was damaged I have a few (3) old SATA II drives so I bought 3 of them and installed them. I then had to download the latest firmware and support software from the manufacturer's website. After installing the firmware verification software and support, I tested the drives with 60GB Patriot Pyro SATA III SSDs and got some interesting results. Yes, old SATA II drives paired with an SSD each and cache daughterboards were actually quite a bit faster than they used to be! I would recommend purchasing

Open Box Datastore

I would like to give an honest review of this product but it was DOA. So I couldn't use it or try it. This could be because it was an open box.

Data storage speed boost

This is a great thing that helps speed up the loading of old systems and programs without wasting storage space, is very easy to install and a great alternative to buying an expensive SSD card on 256+ GB just to have storage space. Just use a 32GB or 64GB card, which costs a lot less, and still save your hard drive for storage. Works great and fast.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Mine can't get over the Windows XP splash screen

Can't get mine to work on my homemade Windows XP Home machine. Loading hangs on the splash screen with an endlessly running blue progress bar. I wrote to technical support, I'm waiting for an answer. Will update the review if anything important comes of it.

Great way to boost your current system performance

Paired with OCZ 30GB OCZ Technology 30GB Vertex Series SATA II Solid State Drive (Black) OCZSSD2-1VTX30G What a difference! Significant improvement in system performance! Super easy installation. No driver installation / reinstallation of the Windows operating system. Nowhere easier. I checked out the Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid but it's pretty much the same (in fact, even better) without the need for an OS/applications reinstall.

Works as advertised! Increase speed with minimal effort!

I used HDDBOOST with Kingston SSDNow V Series 64GB SSD. This is a good mid-range SSD with 200MB/s read and 110MB/s write. I went with 64GB as I wanted my Windows 7 OS and as many apps as possible to be copied to the SSD. My boot hard drive is a Western Digital Caviar Black, which is pretty fast for starters. Installation was easy, just remember to format the SSD first before installing it in HDDBOOst. 1:48 After installing HDDBOOST, the boot time is 1:19. Not bad for a $50 device (of course you

And that should save me time?

I installed HDDBoost on my C drive with an Intel 40GN SSD. It worked, but Windows lost a separate physical data drive. The physical disk was present and correctly recognized in the CMOS setup, but it was listed as "Dynamic Disk" in Diskmgmt.msc. all data) and split again. Then they acknowledged it. I copied his latest backup onto it. I reinstalled HDDBoost and SSD. Everything was fine now. I've measured speed gains: 1) finishing BIOS POST for Windows before full boot: from 140 seconds to 103…
