Solberg 04 Filter Element Diameter Review

This was a replacement for the correct size air filter on the air inlet filter of my California Air Tools air compressor. They wanted to sell me the whole body, so I was happy to find a replacement for that dter. This is for small capacity air compressors that use a 1/4 NPT fitting on the inlet.

I needed to replace the filter cartridge in my Dewalt D55146 air compressor. Dewalt's original replacement (part number D24322) is ridiculously expensive at around $15 for such a tiny filter. Then I found this Solberg 04 filter and compared the specs - the bottom height and width are exactly the same, only the top width (with hem) is slightly wider on Dewalt (about 1/16 inch - see picture). Is there a difference between an unmarked counterfeit filter element and a genuine USA made Solberg element? I think so. I compared them side by side and they look almost the same. You feel the same way. However, the element and plastic filter housing that came with my recently purchased 225psi Dewalt D55168 air compressor. Customs are not marked.
