A must for your soldering station

Works great, comes with spare filters. Don't be put off by other reviews saying it's loud or as loud as a microwave fan. No, that is not so. But if you think it's as quiet as a CPU fan, you'll be disappointed. It has good suction and unlike other fans, you don't need to position it directly over your soldering project to catch fumes.

Pros
  • Soldering and soldering accessories
Cons
  • write later

I just hooked up a fume hood and tried it.

I just connected and tried out a fume hood. It has ENOUGH power, but I find it too powerful (LOUD). It's as loud as the hood over my stove. I'm considering sending it back and trying a quieter unit. Now I wear my office earplugs while drinking. Mine is loud enough to be distracting/disturbing (I think something is wrong with this device).

Pros
  • Welding and soldering
Cons
  • Socket required

Don't breathe in the soldering fumes

I like soldering electronics, but I'm also seriously concerned about my health. The solder fume seems to go where there is a draft and if you work nearby it will go straight into your nose/mouth. With this fan, however, it creates a constant wind and sucks in all the smoke. It passes through a carbon filter and is neutralized. We use them at home and in the office to keep solder fumes and smoke out of our lungs. You just can't assess your health, so if you're soldering - GET ONE.

Pros
  • Tools and household items
Cons
  • So far so good
