Great little tester

Great stuff. The ease of use and ease of use as well as the versatility are great. I caught a mistake I made while making an ethernet cable. This is necessary if you want to make your own cable and test its functionality. Also comes with all necessary accessories.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Vanish

Competent tool for voltage testers

Easy to use and very informative. Multiple tests gave mixed results, I probably got it wrong. I would like to have the result where I am testing instead of having to go to the other end of the cable to read the receiver. One note: the instructions were difficult to copy.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Works great (except reinforced cable)

The tool works great. I just want to add one caveat. Many home coaxial cable antennas have a built-in amplifier. In this case, the amplifier must be turned off or disconnected for the continuity tester to work. Otherwise it indicates a short circuit, although everything is actually fine with the cable.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model

Suitable for electrics

Does what it says on the tin and does it easy. I used it to run a CAT5 cable from an upstairs router to a basement room. This included 3 separate connections with RJ45 connectors and two wall plates. This helped me match the wires and ensure all connections were made correctly with no crossed wires or shorts.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • High price

The perfect addition to my tool box

I purchased this unit in hopes it would help me track down a number of different outlets installed in my new home by the previous owner. The genius said nothing. Not only was this perfect, but it also made it easy to trace the wire connectors that the previous owner had installed. I had 5 over the air and 5 cable jacks all mapped within 10 minutes. Now I'm asking everyone if they need help mapping their homes. Even if I don't use it after 5 years, it's worth it.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Easy to use - but read the instructions first!

Works as advertised. The tester is almost too easy - hence the first reminder to read the instructions. Checking the cable is easy, plug the cable into the device and press the big red button. Things get a little more subtle when you get the wrong cable. The tester will point out the problem, but it is counterintuitive to determine which pair is misconnected. The guide contains the information you need to find a solution.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Only available in white

Not Working - Electrical

Bought this tool to install a 4k HD video system. While connecting the wires I kept getting bad readings. As a beginner I cut off the ends and tried again, same problem. Getting down to business, I tested before making the final connection to the recorder and to my surprise I found an error. Stunned by the second results, I borrowed one from a friend and tested it again. Guess nothing wrong. Finished work. At this point I would not recommend this tool.

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Contact Seller

excellent inexpensive tester

I am not a professional and wanted to run Category 6a cabling around my house and some outbuildings. Never breaking Cat6a requires a lot of mistakes to set up the terminals properly. My old tester got sick and gave me bad readings. This tester is relatively easy to use (I think it has many features, but I only use it to test the network cable - I can't really follow the troubleshooting instructions) and helped me a lot with this project in the best way I could right away see. if my completionโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Test for one year
Cons
  • Appearance

Affordable enough even DIYers should have it.

I have used this solely for testing new CAT6 runs and it works great and is extremely easy to use. Saved me time fixing keystone not working properly on my first project after receiving the tool. The diagnostic lights are easy enough to figure out without resorting to three glitches. If you don't want a fancy, expensive tester with all the bells and whistles you'll never use, but cheap models scare you, then THIS is what fills that gap and it's what you're looking for!

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some bugs
