Sport Rack SR5513 Folding Kayak Rack

Sport Rack SR5513 Folding Kayak Rack While the price is right and it does its job, the folding adjuster doesn't work at all and is difficult to operate and the U-bolts are quite flimsy.

Pros
  • Excellent Construction
Cons
  • There are nuances

Do not use the supplied straps!

The shelf is excellent; I used it to replace a set of Thule J hooks that don't fold. It is easy to install and attaches securely to the Yakima handlebar. But belts are an accident waiting in the wings. I loaded the boats for the 3 hour trip and when I got to my destination one of the straps was half broken. I ditched the companion belt and used the old set for the return trip.

Great kayak rack

I bought 2 kayaks last summer but only got 1 SportRack kayak rack. Why? Call it a test, I wanted to test one before investing in another. Well, it fits perfectly with the SportRack roof rack. The bracket is very strong and fixes the kayak the way it should be without any problems. I've just bought a second one for an even better price and while I haven't used it yet because it's January in Washington state I expect it to work the same as the first.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Out of style

Solid stand. Best in Outdoor Recreation

They do a great job transporting your kayak. They appear to be "solid". The vertical arm is easy to set in a vertical position; or fold when not in use. They easily attach to an existing roof rack; and with different screw lengths, they fit almost every roof rack. There are a few general things to consider: if your car has a high roof; and if you have a heavy kayak loading is (literally) difficult. Also, since the kayaks are carried upright, you must reach high enough to tip the kayaks past…

  • Confident

Excellent quality well built performs well on long trips

I have had these racks for several months now and have used them to rig my 70lb 11ft sit top fishing kayak during the recent 1000 mile trip to transport. They are very easy to install (it takes about 10 minutes the first time and 5 minutes after because you can't completely disassemble them after the first use). Overall I couldn't be happier - especially for the price. Well, having said that, I know the hardware isn't stainless steel, but the frames are just low-grade powder-coated steel. So…

Pros
  • Delivery was very prompt
Cons
  • Reliability
