NEW FOR SRAM - BUT I LOVE IT!

Bought because I wrecked a Shimano Acera by picking up a stick while trail riding. I have 3 bikes each with a Shimano drivetrain --- so far. This derailleur shifts very smoothly and quickly, and because it keeps more "tension" on the chain, it eliminates most chain slap over rough terrain. Just be forewarned as Sram states in their description of this derailleur - YOU MUST MATCH WITH SRAM SHIFTERS - this derailleur is a 1 to 1 ratio, most Shimano derailleurs are a 2 to 1 ratio and the…

In terms of value for money, there should be a better switch

Excellent switch! I bought a used Schwinn highwood from a local store and had terrible shifting for a few weeks before deciding to change it. Combined with the Sram index derailleur (this derailleur requires a 1:1 gear ratio derailleur which I was unaware of at first) I am now more than happy with my rides to work! I have to climb a small hill to get there and I couldn't hold a gear let alone shift when I was pedaling hard, but now it's so crisp and fast that I don't even think I'm just…

Overall this is a good switch

This was a replacement for an identical switch that was in my 2011 Trek Ticket Exchanger. It's funny how flicking a switch on the edge of an aluminum podium can ruin everything. ;) I'm going down the old pros and cons route, cons first: Cons: * Actually only one: All adjustment screws (upper/lower limit and b setting) have a small sharp "point". for any reason. In the case of b-adjust, the tip actually bites/bites into the switch body, right on the edge of the edge, and at the end, with some…

Highly recommended best rear derailleur

This SRAM X-4 rear derailleur replaced my damaged 1991 SunTour rear derailleur. 4 months ago I repaired a worn Sun Tour top pulley - hard to reach idler and it works with some modifications. (Note that the SunTour hasn't ridden in decades, and forget the NOS - New Old Stock.) It was still very difficult to downshift the rear 7-speed. And I actually only had 4-5 courses that SunTour would have. So after damaging the Sun Tour and buying a SRAM X-4 last week. Received and installed yesterday…
