Works great with solder and flux

I've had problems with over the counter silver solder kits. Based on the feedback I thought I'd give it a try. I'm building some small brass steam engines and had to solder a few parts. Success on the 2nd attempt. I've found that it works best when I apply solder to a cold joint, put some flux on the solder, and then ignite it with a flashlight. All connections are well saturated with solder. I will buy again and will buy more from this seller.

The best solder in the world!

The best solder in the world! have been using it for 25 years now. Be careful, liquid flux is VERY strong. So be extra careful with it. Wash your hands often. I've done some very complex soldering work with StayBrite ie micro. 030 dia Custom piano bow...here's a neat trick. Use a regular marker/ink as a resist to prevent the solder from going where you don't want it. After soldering, wash off the ink with alcohol and continue. I prefer a Weller soldering iron rated at โ‰ˆ 100-125(?) watts (noโ€ฆ

hole plug. for welding and soldering

Fixed a small leak in my HVAC system. After completely rebuilding my R410a system and purging with nitrogen before brazing, I had a consistent pinpoint leak in my evaporator and Sil-Phos didn't plug the hole. After three repair attempts using high temp Sil-Phos and Oxy-Acetylene solder I bought this low temp silver solder knowing it would not damage the silver solder already applied to the wiring harness. "Painted" the joint with flux (it's a liquid, not a paste) and applied silver solder withโ€ฆ

Works great for me!

I've only recently started using a soldering iron for my jewelry but so far it's been pretty easy and this solder and flux works really well. I work with silver, silver sheet and some base metals and they all work great. I seem to be a pretty quick solderer so I'll have to order more soon, but I was surprised at how easy it is. I was so afraid to try it and finally a friend gave me some advice and now I'm confident enough to keep experimenting. This particular solder seems better suited forโ€ฆ

This stuff works great

silver solder is really good. It melts and flows at the right temperature and looks very nice after polishing. Acidic flux works very well, but it will be rough on a soldering iron tip. Acidic flux will pull solder through anything if you heat the metal enough. I tried this evening installing a simple wire wrap. First drip the flux, heat the iron and tin the tip, and then press the iron against the part to be soldered. Wear a respirator as the flux will evaporate quickly. Once your part is hotโ€ฆ

Perfect for digester mods!

I used this silver soldering kit to install two 1/2" NPT threaded sockets into a stainless steel stove to attach a drain valve and thermometer. This was my first attempt at brazing stainless steel I made sure the joint was clean and shiny, cleaned it with sandpaper then rubbed it with acetone, wrapped a few turns of solder on the inside of the bolt flange, applied liberal amounts of flux to it and to the surface of the boiler and put the stud in a hole. I heated evenly with a MAPP torch, theโ€ฆ

Great river! Good lot!

Overall product 5 stars but personally I give flux 5 stars and the solder itself 4 stars. The solder itself is good and as advertised, but for me it didn't flow or soak into the fluxed areas as well as other silver solders I've used (both low and high silver). Possibly because the solder is a high strength silver solder. Now for the flux. WOW. Cleans the metal really well and absorbs the wicks well into the joint giving a great grip. An ideal material for joining difficult-to-solder metals such

UPDATE OCTOBER 25, 2017: Although acid flux on the bottle says it's not recommended for aluminum (don't know why), it *works* on aluminum! I just soldered some aluminum grommets to the body of the cordless drill and it worked great! Without acidic flux, heat or good resin core solder it will work. However, once I applied a little acidic flux to a clean surface, it stuck instantly! Surface to be joined *first*, apply solder to the iron (regular resin core electronics solder will work, or acidโ€ฆ
