Essential - Pliers

Needed to restore the transfer case. God I'm glad I followed the advice on the internet and bought it. I could do it without this tool, but it would be MUCH more difficult and many parts would be damaged and scratched. Highly recommend buying these pliers if you are working on a gearbox.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons

relegation product. for snap ring pliers

A good pair of snap ring pliers. Sturdy, but the slick plastic handles are terrible. Hand sweat and, above all, gear oil make the grips extremely slippery during use. The foam based grip used on products from other manufacturers is much better. I cut off the grips and filled them with plastic to get a better feel.

Pros
  • High quality construction
Cons
  • Small parts

Just the right tool for the job!

A very neat and specialized snap ring tool. I bought this tool to remove/install the snap ring that holds the upper ball joint to the steering knuckle. (Toyota 4Runner Limited 2000) Nice long lever handles but by no means too big, I really like the "dimples" on the underside of the jaw as they help open the locking ring without slipping off. tool sponges. In general, a reliable tool of excellent quality!

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • A little detail

Sleek and powerful

I bought these to install a sliding fork converter on a Jeep. There are some pesky snap rings with no holes for standard snap ring pliers, and they worked great. The blades are knurled for a good grip on clamps and the long handles give you more power for thicker rings. Overall I'm very happy with this tool, it has made what might have been a frustrating experience a lot easier. They appear to be well made and I am very happy with them.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • No instructions

Heavy Duty Circlip Pliers

I bought these to install the circlip on the crankshaft of a Type 1 VW engine. The snap ring holds the gears to the front of the crank but doesn't have holes like a traditional snap ring. They grabbed the end of the locking ring and opened it up to fit it over the end of the crank and into the groove it sits in. Worked well and will use again on my next engine build. May also work with other applications where the locking ring needs to be lengthened. Might work for piston rings too, but haven't

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Light Repairability

Best snap ring pliers I have ever seen/owned

just look at it? You are better in person. By far the best pliers for C and E rings. I work with outboards all the time and not all snap rings have holes in them. The spout on them has a strong friction grip and you just need to be careful not to twist the ring and fly away. I've also used them on my pickup ball joints and made life so much easier. They're also very solidly built, giving you the quality feel you'd expect from an old Japanese-German maker. I'm not sure who makes them, but if…

  • Absolutely amazing!

Essential for pliers

I just repaired the brake calipers on my motorcycle. These pliers are needed to pull out and reinstall the pistons in the brake calipers. One of the plungers got stuck and just wouldn't come out. After quite a while of getting the liquid in and a lot of force tugging with these pliers it came out. I did not feel in any way that these tongs would fall apart in my hands, they are very well constructed tongs. I like grips that are soft enough not to dig into my hand but strong enough to withstand…

Pros
  • snap ring pliers
Cons
  • very expensive

Solid tool for power and hand tools

Heavy-duty circlip pliers set, made in the USA. Replacing a 40 year old slick finish set that has resulted in them having their share of flying snap ring hexes in the 15 years I've had. I can't believe I've suffered for so long over a cheap tool. The slot and texture hold the ends of the retaining ring in place. As with other reviews, the grips don't feel limp and loose at the top, but are snug where it counts. If you're more into form than function, you're sure to find some rose gold wands…

Pros
  • Mechanical and hand tools
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Great tool, worth every penny

Great tool, worth every penny. I am in the process of installing an Advanced Adapters SYE kit on my Jeep NP231 transfer case and this requires replacing the rear output shaft and moving a few parts from the old shaft to the new one. There is a C clip that is very @#$%^ to remove and install (see photo) and three other snap ring pliers I have don't touch it. I struggled for far too long trying to install the new C clamp and finally gave in and ordered this tool which made the job almost easy…
