4 stars but worth it.

I bought this blade to replace a standard 14" porter cable blade as it will not work on metal. I am writing a review. Good - it cuts through composite aluminum like butter. Not sure how the other blades in this category stack up, but trying the $30 blade (0.035" blade thickness, 1/2 deep, 93 1/2 long) came out very well. I also cut a 2" square tube 1/4" diagonally lengthwise and it was slow to finish but it worked. I added a lot of lube and it worked. got very noisy so I stopped. I'm not sureโ€ฆ

Not the Starrett quality I'm used to.

Overall, I love Starrett products and have used many of their blades over the years, but these Intenss Pro-Die blades have only given me problems. For 2-3 months I changed three such blades on my horizontal band saw. One was bought here at Revain, the other two were bought at a large hardware store. The welds on all were bad; One of the welds was crooked causing the blade to not move properly so the blade was sent back. The welds on the other two blades were very poorly ground, resulting in aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good for cutting solid, structural and tubular shapes
Cons
  • Not as thick as other cutters

Jumbo waste of money

This is probably the most disappointing purchase I've made in a long time. As I adjusted the blade, I noticed that there was a STRONG lateral runout - the weld is so far from square that it can be seen without even laying a ruler on it. but I thought "What the heck" I bought the blade just to sketch out the handles of the knives and cut out the Loveless bolts that hold the handles. So I decided to just let it run until it wore out and get something else. This idea took exactly 1/2 of a knifeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Rake kit helps remove dirt
Cons
  • I'll write back
