Great value for money - measuring and marking tools

Useful angle. All edges are very sharp, and the right angle is pretty hard. The measurements are clear and precise. 45 corners are useful for layout.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No power

Mine wasn't square

I have used Starrett products before and found them to be of very high quality but this square is not true. I ran several squareness tests and found that this is not the case. Admittedly, the packaging of the product wasn't perfect, so there may have been some bumps in transit. Maybe it was square when it left the factory? It's ok for rough carpentry work, but not so much for finer work.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Doubtful

For $15 it gets a five star rating

A good tool for its intended purpose. It's light and relatively square. With a wide blade and light grip, it's easy to keep level on the board while drawing your mark. Mine wasn't square compared to my average machinist, four thousandths of an inch over 9 inches. Definitely accurate enough for any woodworking project. It would be nice if they marked a 1/16 inch blade instead. A 1/8 inch blade with no markings would be just as useful.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • A few small things

The name alone does not speak for the quality

I found mine to be almost 1/8" square and 15" long. It's too much, even at this price. I tried breaking the outer rivet to cover the corner but that didn't work. For that much money you have to understand that Starrett does nothing but put his name on a product made by someone overseas - so in this case the name has nothing to do with quality. My mistake is that I think differently. For the price I would recommend an adjustable metal bezel or a plastic speed bezel instead as they are all molded

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • The list is long.

Great price, great quality, great accuracy.

Super price, super quality, super precision. It's as advertised so I really can't complain. If I could suggest changes, it would only be two. 1. I would align the top scale with the stylus. When you place it on the board it should have an integer lined up with the edge. 2. I would zoom out to at least 1/32 inch. 1/64 would be best. As I said, I got what was advertised and am happy with it. It's a square that actually is a square! I was very happy with the delivery times. I ordered this and…

Mine is as square as possible.

That's how the carpenter's square is described and, as the saying goes, my square for almost everything I need a larger square for. Can I continue to use my Starrett combo angle? Of course! My combination square is a set of squares for a grade A locksmith and like all locksmith tools, it is used as a woodworking tool. There is an increased level of skill when the machinist's tools are appropriate to the circumstances. But this carpenter square is accurate. Every time you take a known board with
