Great break. Easy to install and configure, easy to use.

I bought this brake to replace the bike my 7 year old rides (it used to be my 15 year old's bike) and the old cable rusted and was difficult to pull. It was easy to install. It came with two sizes of bike mount bolts (which was good because we needed a longer bolt). I had to cut the cable and case to size, but it was easy with wire stripping tools. The total installation time was about 25 minutes, now she likes to practice using the handbrake to slow down in curves.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Tape

This was installed on a department store 'princess bike' to replace the useless shiny brake cable housing and worn out cable for the same price and only one cable and cases from a bike shop. The gauge in this kit is forged so it feels much better and sturdier than the cheap stamped metal calipers on most department store bikes. Now my son rides "Purple Chrome," the same bike with peel-off decals and orange grips instead of shiny ones, and he's making his way on this little 16-inch bike.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Some small things

Good brakes, very bad pads

It has everything you need when you don't have brakes at all, and at a good price. The brake itself feels cheap, but is quite solidly made and quite functional. My only real complaint in this regard is that the paint scratches so easily that it's unlikely that many people will be able to operate and adjust the brakes without visible marks. The real problem with this set is that the material the pads are made of is so hard that it can't snag enough on the rim to really stop it no matter how youโ€ฆ

Nothing out of the ordinary but a job well done

This bike was purchased to fit a front brake on a kids BMX bike. The bike only had a rear rim brake, which isnโ€™t that great on hills. With a factory brake hole in the front fork, this kit is easy to install. I had to replace the pivot bolt with a longer one (included) and reverse the left-handed grip. The supplied cable is long enough for almost any application and can be easily shortened. The only drawback is the inverted handle. Looks a bit strange, but works perfectly. The handle that cameโ€ฆ

The best way to hit the brakes.

Some time ago; I bought a used 15 speed cruiser. After setting it up, I tried it. Big mistake! While driving I encountered gravel on the road. I tried to control my speed by applying the front brake. They failed and I landed hard. Upon examining the brake, I found that it was made of untempered metal that bent easily. Now my bike really isn't that expensive and I don't see the point of buying a kit that costs more than $20. Most were overpriced. and the Chinese were cheap and of unreliableโ€ฆ

Great set of brakes that won't break the bank

I recently converted an old road bike to a rigid gear. I wanted to get a new set of brakes for it because the old ones weren't that good because they're very old. The kit contains what is pictured except for a few other bolts that attach to the forks. As the kit says, it's a BMX brake kit, but only in the sense that it looks like a BMX; This kit works on almost every bike I can think of. The reason I bought it was because I was just looking for a front brake kit. It had EVERYTHING I needed toโ€ฆ

  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

Good rim brake for kids bikes

This brake kit is a good addition to kids bikes with foot brakes. I added it as an extra rear brake to the footbrake on a 16" bike so my 5 year old could have a handbrake to practice on. It's a bit big for a 5 year old though. Because the leverage is too big for their small hands. The other issue I have is that the lever really only fits on the right side, which is usually the rear brake. To install the lever on the left side, the lever must be installed upside down so that the lever clamp andโ€ฆ
