Works for me: Drain Pumps

We live in Hawaii and rely on a holding tank for our water. I have two tanks, a big one for 4000g and a small one for 2400g. The smaller one is not directly connected to our water supply. We bought this pump to pump water from a smaller tank to a larger one when needed. Water is drawn from the bottom of the tank to the pump by gravity, so no real priming is required. A bit noisy, but the water runs through without any problems.

Problems starting

Found out after you can't use a longer 10ft suction hose when it should be 6-8ft. Every time the hose stops sucking, the pump has to be primed again and again, which is troublesome. Loss of suction can happen even when it's not clogged with debris, and even if the hose isn't sticking out of the water, it can still lose suction for no reason. It requires a lot of extra work and bending over to try to get it working.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick

  • Some difficulties

First of all I have to say that I really like this pump. I connected my hoses to the pressure side and discharge side, routed the outlet hose to where I needed it to flow. When I tried to put a strainer on the outlet end of the hose I realized it was the male end and because you connect the hose so you have the male end on the hose. The strainer must have an internally threaded end so that it can be easily screwed onto the hose. It doesn't matter, you can find an adapter to use it. I just have…

Know what you need before you buy.

This pump is actually too strong for my needs. If you want to pump rainwater from a barrel into your garden in a controlled manner, like I did, this pump probably isn't for you. She moves too much water for that. I tried slowing down the flow a bit with a pour wand and the flow stopped. Angry Pump. Seems like a good product when you need to pump water from one place to another. Like anything water related, adapters leak. me. It's loud here. So, as with Goldilocks, my search continues. A…

Let's say it's DC powered but has a 115V power cord plugged in

It's heavy but only compared to some of the smaller DC models. Incidentally, the description from November 17, 2021 shows that it is BATTERY = Power, which is not the case. This is an AC powered pump with a 10 foot cord. It's not very quiet, but unless you plan on sleeping with it while you work, that shouldn't be a problem for most. Some people have complained about leaks but not mine. I used teflon tape and tried not to overtighten the adapters. I like the switch but don't really like the…
