Surco ST100 Spare Carrier Safari Review

This is a very high quality replacement holder. It is designed to rest on cross members that support the trunk and spare wheel. Has a chain to use a padlock to attach the handle for rack mounting.

Delivery was great but what you order is not as pictured. All you get are rods to install the rack but not the rack itself. The picture is very deceptive. Revain did a great job in the comeback and I'm happy with that.

Probably a great trunk for a "stock" part. Even when I had a 30" tire on this mount, it was enough to cause the post to deform. When I went to 33" tires, I had to modify and drill holes to make the tire fit at all, and reinforce the supports to keep the tire from bending the strut. Since the rack can carry the weight without issue, the design change was made to ensure this mount could properly hold any tire that is above standard.

Be very careful when checking the spare tire weight! This part breaks down easily. Even after I welded on additional material to reinforce it, it damaged my entire Surco stance because my tire was too heavy. The legs on the trunk CALL and damaged the trunk ducts underneath as well as the roof itself. I had to remove the entire assembly.

Useless. I am so disappointed in this luggage rack and spare wheel holder. With 33" tires. Width less than 10" on aluminum rim. The entire roof rack flexes to touch the roof. I was expecting a roof rack to be able to handle this. I called Surco to find a solution but the Customer service seemed ignorant.
