I tend to crochet tighter stitches than most and find it difficult to follow patterns until I decided to order several different sizes of these Susan Bates hooks with bamboo handles. The pattern said it would fit "most" women's heads. I hadn't crocheted in years and was out of needles, so I ran to my local store and found a recommended size needle and yarn. My only option was a Boye
