Great accuracy at a great price

I bought this to help make jigs in my carpentry shop. It has near-perfect accuracy, at least we'll surpass what's required for woodworking. Size 45 and 90 are perfect to make sure my fastenings are correct. And for the price you can't go wrong. The only and probably obvious point will be the size. I wouldn't use measuring lines since the font is about 1/16th thick.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Minor issues

The best there is, the dimensions are right.

Bestseller Knapp for your money. I would easily pay twice as much for a tool of this quality from the USA. It has all the features you need and includes a ton that you'll only use occasionally. Cast aluminum is strong and light. The dimensions are correct. I had no roughness through the plaster. The book feels very comfortable. If Swanson makes it to the US, no one else has an excuse.

Pros
  • Super for me
Cons
  • Almost everything ok

Mainly used to align table saw carriages

I bought this large speed angle just to align the fences with my table saw blade. I find 6 inches too small and this one is just perfect. I prefer 6 inches for joinery when using custom lumber and I'm sure it will be perfect for that too. It's easy and pretty accurate. Out of the box it's about as square as a workshop can measure with regular tools, so it's perfect for aligning my jigs with a good square on a table saw.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Fit, Finish and Precision

I've been using these Swanson squares for longer than I can remember. I ordered another 12" as a backup and the good thing is that it was sturdy and boxy. The bad side was that the surface finish was terrible and the detent marks were very difficult to read. All my previous squares had black paint in the Snap marks to make reading easier, the one I received was unpainted and with very poor surface finish on both sides What happened I hope this isn't another cost saving measure as I will of…

Got it for my son and he loves it!

My son got very interested in woodworking last year so I'm buying him different tools so he doesn't have to take mine anymore. I bought it for him for Christmas because he liked mine, but when I got this one I found that it's better than mine (maybe it's because it's not 30 years old and is heavily used?) . But this is an incredibly simple and well-made speed ramp. The few notches are great for staying in place when marking your pieces. It is a HEAVY metal which makes it very durable. This…

Pros
  • Easy grading
Cons
  • Some mistakes

Swanson Speed Square: Is it enough for you?

Was quite hard to find in metric but now I've found it! I don't do roofing, I just wanted this special Speed Square (from Swanson) to use with a circular saw (as a ruler to cut wood) and draw cutting lines on various materials (wood, aluminum, iron.). I wanted Swanson because it's a very respectable name and moreover because it's made in the USA and while I'm not American I'm doing my best to support the American economy. I made no mistake buying it, it is of very good quality and exactly 90…

Pros
  • Includes a 60 page manual in Swanson Blue
Cons
  • Only available in black

Bait and switch suitable for measuring and marking tools

I bought this square because the pictures on Amazon show it's a solid line from corner to tip. As you can see in the first photo I uploaded. However, they sent me a square that is missing a huge piece right in what they call the corner. Well I'm telling you I've had different models of the speed square with the same stupid thing and it's utterly useless. It's absolutely useless, and I haven't used a pan notch in 15 years. This will only mess up your mark if you need to make a nice mark on the…

Pros
  • Thick aluminum with a matte finish to prevent glare
Cons
  • Dull packaging
