OK, in general. in Kitchen Gadgets & Gadgets

The opener works well and can open certain cans that my regular mainstream opener can't. But the bottle opener I received had a problem, possibly a defect. The bottom handle slipped off immediately and this continued with each use. Unlike the top handle, it was not firmly or securely attached. Since pushing hard back wasn't a permanent solution, I placed the opener upside down on a soft surface and then hit it hard with a hammer. I had to be careful not to hit too hard as I found that the…

Why sharp edges?

This can opener opens jars without fuss and smoothes the sharp edges nicely around the rim (although the lid is still sharp, so be careful). It's nice that it opens a full 180 degrees, which makes it easy to clean. But none of these features are particularly unique. Meanwhile, the can opener itself has sharp edges. I'm not talking about the cutting roller, which of course is sharp. I mean the edges of the metal frame where it was pierced. Check out photos of one of the places I'm talking about,

Won't be left behind

So I ordered this, assuming it's the same Swing-A-Way I bought at Walmart a few years ago. Not sure if they changed the design or if I just got a broken one, but this one is definitely not the same - the previous one I had was used constantly multiple times a day (me and my 2 roommates cooked a lot of canned goods ) and for many years it has not never spoiled. Unfortunately I left this can opener to one of my roommates :( This one just sucks. While it still has the good weight and hard working…

Disappointing - not like the old Swing-A-Way I replaced

This can opener is a real disappointment. What is the problem? Compared to older Swing-A-Way openers, it doesn't grip the can as easily and securely (tends to move easily), doesn't rotate as easily, and doesn't cut the can end as cleanly. Here's some more history on my long journey to replacing my old Swing-A-Way. Last year my Swing-A-Way (purchased in 1995) finally died and had to be replaced after almost 20 years of faithful service. I went to the local store and bought a Kitchenaid as they…
