Large corkscrew - winged corkscrew

The corkscrew that we have been using for almost 20 years broke. Most corkscrews I found were either ridiculously large or ones we've tried in the past and didn't like. It was the closest I could find to the old one we had. It works great; I'm glad I found this at Revain.

Pros
  • Kitchen utensils and gadgets
Cons
  • Almost everything included

Very easy. Just waiting for it to break

I could be very wrong but I can't imagine this screw will last very long. I've had some really good screws (the previous one lasted 8 years and opened 9+ bottles a week). This one has a chromed metal pot etc. If I'm wrong I'll update my review in a few months. UPDATE: Three years later. This corkscrew still works, so my first impression was far off. It seems so light I thought it wouldn't hold up. but it's here and it looks and works like new. Wine Veritas

Pros
  • Corkscrew with wings
Cons
  • Can damage

Swiss brand but light, thin hands and plastic body.

At a price of over $20 and a Swiss brand, I expected it to be made to Swiss standards: full metal forgings or stampings, heavy construction for durability. But no - this black case isn't powder-coated or oxide-treated metal: it's black thermoplastic resin. Not even fiberglass reinforced resin, just plain plastic, probably polyethylene. The shiny metal gears are die-cast from a non-ferrous metal, possibly aluminum, and are THIN. I didn't weigh the whole piece, but it shouldn't be more than…

like a knife through butter!

My problem with corkscrews is that the tip of the screw goes into the cork. That's no problem with this corkscrew - it cuts through butter like a knife. The screw seems to fit better than usual. This is the best corkscrew I've ever used, although admittedly I haven't used a wide variety. Some reviewers said this corkscrew feels weak. When I saw this, I looked at the reviews of other products from this company and they shine, so I decided to give it a try. Well, it seems faint, but I don't think
