Requires a switch reset from time to time

Set all my computers to stay awake or go to sleep even if they come back up every few months (roughly) with regular use. It seems to happen more often when I'm working from home (on large projects). Reusing the switch also usually requires a hard boot or restart of the PC so I can control the keyboard/mouse/display.

does not work with Thinkpad Advanced Dock

I have a 1600 x 1200 LCD display connected to 2 computers: a desktop with integrated nvidia 6150 graphics and a laptop (Lenovo T60p in Thinkpad Advanced Dock). The desktop worked fine, the laptop could not detect the presence of a monitor, so it showed a blank screen. Gefen Switch works fine in the same situation.

Video switching is excellent. USB (including keyboard and mouse) no.

I use this on my Macbook Pro, imac24 and PC that connects a Dell 24" FPD. Video switching is excellent. USB is so bad I've stopped using the built in USB switch. Me have read the forums and tried many different things but the usb sometimes disappears sometimes the keyboard just registers every other key press I only have a keyboard and mouse connected to the usb I am not happy with the usb switching at all.

expensive - but good device

available, I found it expensive - but I found the cheapest at the time for dvi and usb (previously used various vga and ps/2kvm) - I like this device very much, the functions are nice (albeit a bit tricky to use), like the ability to separate audio from kvm. No problem with USB 2.0 devices. Overall it looks like a solid performer.

The best DVI KVM on the market, although not perfect

Hello, I recently purchased this Avocent Switchview 4-Port DVI KVM Switch and am pleased to report that it meets most of my needs . Firstly, at resolutions from 1600x1200, the video quality is practically not lost. The switch works well if you have a USB keyboard and USB mice EXCEPT if you have a USB trackball mouse. I have a Kensington Expert Pro trackball mouse and it is not recognized by this switch. However, you can always use a mouse via the USB hub provided in the switch. Now, the hub has

Best Service from Avocent

I bought this unit because it meets all my needs. When I tried to install it, my monitor wasn't recognized by the switch. I've tried a number of connections with no luck. I contacted Avocent Tech Support and spent some time with one of the techs. He instructed me how to update the firmware. This didn't solve the problem so I called back the next day. They said they would issue an RMA. This is where it gets really AWESOME. They sent me a new switch 3 days later BEFORE I returned the old one…

It basically works as advertised

The price of this switch drew me in. All I needed was a switch for video, keyboard and mouse. I don't need audio. As a video and keyboard switcher, it works as advertised. However, with my PowerMac G5 and Mac Mini, it can't handle the Mighty Mouse. Most mouse functions do not work. So I was forced to use two mice. While not too annoying, it does limit the functionality of the switch.
