T316-Stainless Steel 1/16'' Wire Rope,7X7 Strand Core Marine Grade(200Ft) Review

Bought this wire a couple of months ago to use in my garden for a tension trellis for my climbing rose. Chose it as it’s marine grade so can withstand the elements. After a lot of research this was by far the best value (planning on more trellis building) for the type of wire and length you get. It’s been through a humid summer, with a couple of tropical storms and is holding up great and remains strong and durable. Greatly recommend it for gardeners and outside use! Shipping was fast too.

Not much to say about this stuff. It's a 200ft spool of 1/16 stainless steel cable for making lightweight wire ropes for string lighting, hanging picture frames, etc. The wire is nonmagnetic so seems to actually be stainless steel.This spool comes with a package of 100 crimp connectors. I didn't count them so have no idea if there are actually 100 in the package but there are enough in the package that it'll last quite a while. You'll need a special tool to crimp these if you don't already have

The biggest issue is that I do not own a wire cutter that is all that great so I smashed a few ends rather than cut them or only cut most of the way through. That is how I realized that the metal is stainless. I tried to pick up the small pieces of wire with a magnet. Total fail. So you need a good wire cutter and a crimp tool that could be a plyers. Even with the bad cuts I made a few times the wire kept its braid except right at the very end and only opened up a very little bit. In one case…

Purchased this for some work in our laboratory suspending loads. The crimps and the wire rope both worked excellently in our application. Have had good results with this 1/16" 316SS rope in tension suspending loads about 50% of rated capacity in mildly corrosive environments. Very happy with the price and quality of this wire rope.
