Ideal if you are spinning your own yarn

I've recently started spinning my own yarn and this swift is perfect for my purposes! For a non-spinner, I still find this Swift infinitely better than the plastic glider Swift I had previously. For a weirdo, this thing is IMHO PERFECT. I don't need a Niddy Noddy because I can use it to measure yarn! The wood is smooth and doesn't cling to my yarn. I don't have a good place to use the clip base so this desktop base is perfect for me. And it is very easy to assemble and disassemble. I've already

Pros
  • Amish Style Swift, suitable for skeins 30" to 72" (30", 38", 46", 54", 63" and 72")
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled

Maximum simplicity. but if you're looking for precision, maybe not.

So this really is the perfect model with a simplified design. No nuts or bolts; nothing superfluous. However, the cuts and drilling are not "precise" so there is LOTS of play everywhere. The base parts are loose. hands move. The pins move in their holes. All of this is forgivable and even necessary, but the 72-inch peg holes are actually 70.5 inches. There is no 36" (1 yd) mark, only 38". You can get 36 by using 3 of the 38" holes and 1 of the 30" holes, but you may encounter even more wobble…

Pros
  • Crafted from durable wood, Swift's smooth finish enhances aesthetics and the structure leaves no room for yarn to snag.
Cons
  • Discontinued model

It is the perfect solution for yarn

I'm so glad I bought this Swift. I wish I had done so much earlier in my crochet career. It is very well made and easy to use. You can disassemble it in a second and easily reassemble it (see diagram). And it works. It works so well. It's a lot easier than pulling a chair out of the dining room, flipping it over and wrapping yarn around the legs! This swift is easily adjustable with wooden pins. In addition to the functionality, I really like the look. I love the Amish style for its simplicity…

Pros
  • The non-slip pads on the bottom of the machine ensure it is securely fixed on the table surface and it is also very convenient to carry as it can be detached and carried around.
Cons
  • Exorbitant Piggy Bank
