🚫 Targus 100W Slim Line Mobile Inverter: Discontinued Edition Review

I've had it for a few years. It's good for charging things in the car, including laptops. The only complaint is that it's noisy.

It's compact, quiet and can be used with my laptop. My previous inverter failed the laptop test, but I'm happy with the Targus.

The product works well, the result seems very clean. The output of some similar cheaper products is not clean and causes my netbook to crash. It also has a solid look.

We love this little inverter. We charge our phones, cameras and computers with it. It's the perfect size and the cord is long enough for the inverter to stand on the floor but not too long to get in the way. We think this is a great item and we use it often and have had no problems with it!

I purchased this device after my old device caught fire on the flight to JFK. I use an inverter during flight to charge various devices. I could buy a Dell DC adapter specifically for my laptop but we have 2 laptops with different adapters so buying an inverter made more sense. My old inverter didn't have a fan so it was very quiet, but I didn't notice this fan being too loud as others have said. Works well, great buy for the price. Much less than buying the current two-socket model.

This unit is a good size and design. But the fan is surprisingly loud. Loud enough to hear in a moving car. Loud enough that if I saw someone taking this out of a bag on an airplane, I'd offer my seat to someone else. It seems that the designers understood this and added fan speed control to the design. So the device goes from noisy at idle to obnoxious under load. What really pissed me off is that I called Targus and asked if this unit had a fan. They said no. They even checked. grumbling.

I bought a 100w Targus Slim Line portable inverter for international business travel. I'm tired of carrying two laptop batteries with me for 7-9 hour flights. The product works as intended and is quite small compared to other similar devices. It can power up to two devices simultaneously (1 USB input and 1 US jack input).
