Bad converter for external accessories

Easy to install and convenient, but the converter was bad from the start. I had to delete it and send it back for a refund which was provided promptly. After speaking to several mechanics, they said you have a 1 in 5 chance that they will arrive with a bad converter. I would suggest ordering two (just in case) and sending another one back to increase your chances of a functional strap.

Pros
  • Stop/turn circuit, power 2.1A
Cons
  • Expensive

Zero stars are well suited for plug connections

Bought 02/17, kept until 11/17. Every time I hit the brakes on my truck, the fuses in the rear lights would blow and the trailer would not connect. I removed the trailer light wiring harness and it was back to normal. Don't waste your time with this product, it doesn't work. By the way, I installed it perfectly, no cables were damaged and the little black box was installed weatherproof. IMHO just cheap junk.

Pros
  • Rear light circuit 5 ampere
Cons
  • Band

This kit fixed my right taillight issues with a previous Hopkins build.

I had a Hopkins wiring kit that I installed on my 2004 Toyota Tacoma and it didn't work intermittently. It worked well for the first year, then on the right side it didn't. The right rear light on the trailer just didn't always come on or blink. This connection kit P/N 118379 fixed the problem. Instead of a green wire on the right, it has multiple wires, which I think affects reliability. It looks like both sides are connected to Hopkins in the first place instead of the left side, which could…

Pros
  • Rugged, weatherproof, one-piece construction
Cons
  • So-so

Things just keep getting better

Great product. Installed on a 1992 Toyota pickup. No cutting or splicing of wires like the first tow line I installed years ago. Everything was plugged in and working, all lights worked as advertised. I used additional zip ties to secure the wires to the existing wiring harnesses and truck frame. As another review says, I would have liked a little more length on the driver's side to allow me to mount the terminal block closer to the center of the truck. . The terminal has an adhesive backing…

Pros
  • 16 gauge patch cord with 4 way low profile plug and play system
Cons
  • Fits

Two starts best on exterior accessories

Perfect for my 2003 Tacoma 2.7L 4X4 SR5 Extended Cab. Worked great for about 1.5 years then suddenly caught fire and in the field the terminal strip melted. see fig. When a short circuit occurred in the terminal, the fuses for the dashboard, navigation lights and taillights blew. I wasn't wearing a belt then either. I installed the terminal block as instructed, making sure the wires didn't fray anywhere on the truck chassis. I've been working with aircraft wiring for almost 3 decades, so I know

Pros
  • No cutting, splicing or wrapping of car wiring
Cons
  • Only available in black
