disappointed best in aquarium pumps and filters

Update February 28, 2018 Water intake stopped after about 6 months. now about 9 months old. it stopped working completely. very disappointed. DO NOT BUY I have been using Tetra HOB (Back Hanging) filters for 12 years. The ones I bought 12 years ago are very well made. But this new filter from Tetra looks very cheap. What happened to Tetra? The lid needs help closing it, the hoses are so loose I double them to last a year. The only plus is that it's quiet. I'll hold it for a while and see how it

Put ex 70 and ex 45 on my 39 gal. wow !

Have had all types of aquariums for 50 years. That may be a bit of an exaggeration but I have never had clearer water and the fish are much more lively. I have used old whisper filters over the years and they are very quiet and reliable for many years as opposed to Marineland which I replace after 2 years. My Marineland filter was always clogged weekly despite changing it monthly and cleaning it weekly. I also like the new modern look of the former Whisperers. Great ex-whisper price at Revain -

I LOVE IT! super quiet!

It's incredibly quiet and does the job perfectly. I have a cordidor catfish). When my previous filter broke I looked to Revain for a new one to find the best filter at the lowest price. I also realized that I was looking for a filter that wasn't as loud. For me it was the perfect product. Instead of using the activated carbon filter included in the kit, I prefer to use small plastic sponges. I put 4-5 filters in the filter, clean them on a water change and they last forever. The only reason…

Not suitable for pools with low water levels

This filter requires a sufficiently high water level in the pool. I would say the water level should be at least 1.5 inches from the top of your tank. The inlet has a small seam at the very top of the inlet tube which MUST be fully submerged in water or the pump will run dry. So if you're doing water changes or just keeping the water level down in your tank, this pump isn't for you. It is absolutely unsuitable for a turtle tank or the like. Also, the first one I ordered was defective. After I…

Amazing for the price!

I've only been using it for a day but I love it. I received a 10 gallon filter to replace my Tetra Whisper 2-10i filter that was soaked in seaweed and beyond repair (I'm learning to make plants. Oops). This was for 10 gallons with chicken and two armored catfish. It hums quietly and evenly and sits firmly on the back. Suction is good and flow is amazing, but too strong for most bettas. As some others have said, make sure the suction cage tubing is tight; If the tube detaches, your fish will…

Quiet and easy to install

PRO: This filter picks up moving objects in the aquarium quite well. The cartridges and water flow are well contained if you're careful to snap the top of the filter, which is easy to miss, BUT it's easy to do when you realize there are notches on the top of the filter. The device currently costs 28.43, so you can't beat that price. CONS: The cost of running this filter is as and/or worse than Marineland with their ridiculous C and E wagon costs. DO NOT make the mistake of subscribing to these…

Great for my 55, easy install.

I've had a 55 gallon tank for a few years now and only recently my original ex70 whisperer that came with it started not drawing in or dispensing as much water as it did it should. I've tried everything I've tried to clean it, tried to make sure it cleans everything and it still wouldn't work at the highest level making my aquarium dirtier than it should and stressing my fish would have. I decided to just buy a new one and I already know how to use this particular model and I have spare filter…

Excellent filtration but unbearable noise

I have a hexagonal tank, tall and thin which means filters for the same size rectangular tank cannot circulate well in the lower half of the tank. I chose the EX 20 to get a higher flow rate. This device does an excellent job of both mechanical and biological filtration and now my entire aquarium spins much better. Also, it doesn't create too much current for my tiny oranda goldfish, which can be an issue with stronger filters as they tend to be poor swimmers. My only downside is that this…
