Arrived quickly. I used a few different diameters to make a bottle cage out of a 2x4 piece. The holes are amazingly clean on both the sides and bottom, and the tip pilot hole is very shallow, resulting in a really nice finished piece. And the hexagonal shank ensures a really secure grip between drill and bit. I used a hand drill and had good depth control. The bit did not "run away" into the wood.
From 1/4" to the standard 2 1/8" size, an absolute must for anyone expanding their joinery. The cutters are very well made and the transparent case with handle completes the excellent price-performance ratio. With individual headers, it is too easy to lose track. Shop is always easy to find. I took a closer look, including some of my favorite spots. Woodcraft and Highland. it's as good as it gets. You don't need carbide unless you are CNC hardwood. The hexagonal rods are the bees' kneesβ¦
I bought these as a gift so the comments in my review are limited and not based on usage. I put a dial indicator on the stem to measure run out. The concentricity, measured on my drill with center gauge, is 0.003. The run out of Timberliine bits (I accidentally tested three) ranges from .003 to .005 inches measured on the shank closest to the bit. In other words, runout is only 0.002" better than my drill spindle. I accidentally measured the diameter with a caliper and they match the specsβ¦
