Affordable performance and excellent build quality!

Wow. It is great. It looks and feels good, and delivers smooth, consistent performance. I plugged it straight into a 110V outlet at my shop, grabbed a 6011 stick, and quickly got to welding. I had no complaints about this item and am very happy to have a good SMAW setup at such an affordable price! There are a number of other similar and even cheaper machines out there with many more reviews of the Revain (there were only 2 reviews of these when I ordered it) but for some reason I got this one…

Will not work in welding and soldering

Intended to be welded to a 20A 120 volt circuit breaker. He didn't turn off the switch, but he couldn't fire the arc all the time. The best you can do is weld the stick to the steel. Only a few times did I get it to bow. I ended up making a weld about 1/4" thick using a 3/32 7018 rod that had the correct threading. The rest of the time it was a mess. I haven't even tried a 1/8 stick of 7018 ,most of the time the stick is just welded to the steel so you can't remove it from the steel. All he…

Great Value Welder

Removed from shipping carton, connected wires, hooked up to 120v mains (via a 10ga 50ft extension) and I connected several scraps of a 1" rod with 3/32" 6013. This was just a test. The penetration was much deeper than expected. Just striking an arc. I started with a setting of 120 amps and then increased it to 195 amps I wanted something ultra portable On site repair work (not ship building) I am 100% happy with this purchase I am not a professional welder but have been welding for almost 40…

Almost 4 stars for Welder

When I received this welder I was very satisfied. Tried on 120V, works fine. Then I plugged it into a 220 outlet and it got a lot better. I wound some rolls and welded some pieces of steel together. The third time I tried to use it, I set everything up. When I flipped the switch there was a very loud click in the welder. He tripped most of the circuit breakers in the store, including the 30A main breaker and the 40A pole breaker. I tried plugging it back into 120V but it just blew the switches.

Pros
  • Best in its niche

Good first welder for garage work

This is the only welder I've used to date but has proven to be a fairly reliable beginner welder. My only complaint is that the ground wire on the terminal side is a bit cheap, but it gets the job done. That with a cheap angle grinder is really all you need for metal work. Now I'm having some trouble getting the bow onto the big bars, especially when working with the extension. I only have 120 power so I have yet to try full power 240. I've found this welder to work better with 3/32 rods than…

Good price-performance ratio: Welding systems

Took it out of the shipping box, connected the wires, hooked it up to 120v (via a 10 ga 50 foot extension) and connected some 1 inch lengths of rod to a 3/32 Customs-6013. That was just a test. The penetration was much deeper than expected. It's easy to strike an arc. I started with a 120 amp setting and then increased it to 195 amps. I wanted something ultra-portable for on-site repair jobs (not shipbuilding). I am 100% satisfied with this purchase. I'm not a professional welder, but I've been

Good First Shop Welder

This is now the only welder I have used, but it has proven to be a fairly reliable welder for beginners. Pros
  • Able to work with E6010 cellulose electrode, ideal for welding rods less than 5/32 inch (4.0 mm) in diameter. Up to 195 A, suitable for welding mild steel, carbon steel, stainless steel and cast iron.
Cons
  • Obsolete model
