Fails to Deliver: Avoid Tensioner

Based on my experience, this tensioner failed on me within weeks of installation. The pros are that the installation process was simple. Unfortunately, the cons are that it does not effectively regulate timing tension and isn't durable enough for long-term use. Save your money and find a different product.

Pros
  • High-quality and durable material
Cons
  • Difficult to install without proper mechanical knowledge

The application table is wrong!

According to Toyota direct parts list. this part # is for the 2009 offspring xd.! But your website says it doesn't fit the 09 Scion xd 1.8 engine!

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • I will add later

I extended the life of my timing chain with a new chain tensioner!

These are Toyota Genuine Parts and are a bargain and can save you the hassle of having to replace your timing chain which will likely cost $1500 to repair. So if you hear a horrible grinding noise on cold starts, before spending a fortune, try replacing the timing chain tensioner first (especially if you have 150,000 miles or more). It's just two 10mm bolts holding it to the back of your 1.8 liter engine. Remember to turn the crankshaft in the REVERSE direction until you hear the tensioner…

Pros
  • Belt tensioner
Cons
  • Available in black only.
