No complaints about network transceivers

Using 2 of these as an ethernet bridge to connect my home LAN to a detached garage, one at each end of the fiber optic line. Paired with TP-LINK TL-SM311LS Gigabit SFP Module, Single Mode, MiniGBIC, LC Interface, distance up to 10km. Very happy! The box is robust and compact. Warm enough, otherwise no complaints.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Damaged

No complaints good for computers and accessories

Bought as part of an ethernet bridge to bring my home LAN to my detached garage (wifi wasn't reliable). The system works great! Paired with a TP-Link Gigabit Ethernet media converter, up to 1000Mbps RJ45 to 1000Mbps SFP slot with MiniGBIC support (MC220L), one at each end of the fiber link. No complaints.

Pros
  • great for a small house
Cons
  • weak

Excellent technical support

This is a high quality HDMI to Ethernet converter, but what really stands out is the excellent technical support. I was able to stream video over CAT5e with no problems, but I'm having trouble with audio when using ARC. The technician helped me set it up and it works great. I want to stress that I learned the hard way that ARC over HDMI requires CAT6 cabling, but you can use the optional TOSLINK to CAT5e connection I have.

Pros
  • Value for money
Cons
  • Vanish

Great functionality, but be careful with the resulting heat!

Works very well for the price and is extremely easy to use. The only downside is that the amount of heat generated by this thing is almost dangerous. After it's been running for a few minutes, you'll need gloves to touch it. I wouldn't put it next to anything flammable. I had to go back and install separate fans for the racks to keep them from catching fire. If I were in TP-Link's position, I would invest some R&D into solving this issue as it's hard to imagine that over time this can't causeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Well made
Cons
  • Great price

Maintenance free Suitable for computers and accessories

My original plan was to run Cat6 on some devices that I'd rather keep wireless. Unfortunately, the layout of our home made it completely impossible without tearing down the walls. I used the powerline adapter kit again, but plugging into a surge protector grounded the signal. I didn't want to run copper from the outlet to my backbone during power surges. I ended up buying this and glazing the connection from the powerline adapter to the switch. I was expecting that this might not be a perfectโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Frequency

Reliable device but not reporting connection status

Reliable device. Works well. Works with every SFP I've tried. Allows use of autonegotiation or forced speed and duplex. Unfortunately, this converter seems to have been implemented as a two-port switch and does not report the connection status correctly. In other words, you can plug a cable into RJ45 and your device will see that the connection is working even if the fiber optic link is down (or completely down). This makes it useless for those who want to monitor the status of an interfaceโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Boring packaging
