Good router, not so good support

Bought this router to replace an old Netgear router. While it was easy to set up and get started, I did notice that the firmware was a few years old - from 2015! So I tried updating the firmware by going in and it was confusing which files I needed or didn't need. She then called support and was further confused by a very brief and impatient representative who told me that these routers never need an update. I hardly believed it and then asked why there is a FIRMWARE UPDATE button when entering

  • One year trial

It's great when it works, but keep it close

This device produces really high speeds. The network is now limited by how fast a computer can process data, not by connection speed. However, at least once a day, sometimes two or three times, it simply loses connection and the only way to come back is to do a power-down reboot. I checked if it is the latest firmware, so there is no solution there. That might be fine for the average user, but I store all my data on a NAS device and most programs don't respond well if the connection drops for a

Incredible range and still a keeper after 6 months of use!

I switched to this router from the Buffalo Air station. This router is easy to use and set up, and the range is amazing. Operating on the 2.5 GHz band, this router can transmit a signal up to about 500 feet (from the 2nd floor of my house). Ideal for WiFi access in the backyard or my neighbors house across the street. It has separate guest network access for the 2.5 and 5 GHz band. Simply point the antennas in the right direction and a focused beam will be sent to waiting devices. It has aโ€ฆ

  • Very good value for money

Powerhouse - Computers and Accessories

I've used many cheap routers over the years (configured as access points, ie without a LAN connection) - my original Cisco 350 worked well but couldn't provide modern security. Some of the newer models worked very well but just didn't deliver enough signal strength (Cisco average was -65 to -70 in typical workspaces, but others (Belkin to N and cheap Trendnet) were solid. 10dB lower in This One was about the same level as Cisco's original, maybe even a few dB hotter Setup was easy and intuitive

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

So far so good with this router

So far so good with this router. I used to have a different brand of modem/router combo and found that the wireless range was not good enough for my home. The problem with this router is that the antennas were internal, so they could not be adjusted or replaced with better antennas. My house is designed so that the modem/router should be on one side of the house so there is virtually no signal on the other side. I tried using a range extender but it was a bad decision (it lost a lot of speedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Waiting too long
