Only worked once. The second time I plugged in my laptop it stopped working. The keyboard/mouse just flickers until they turn off. I've tried every possible combination of disconnect/connect, different ports, and power cycle. I'm just going to return this junk and look for something else.

I bought a switch to use between a MacBook Pro and a Windows 8 PC. The switch works fine with my Mac, but not with a PC. It works fine when booting up the PC, but as soon as I switch to the MacBook and try to switch back to the PC, I get the message "USB device not recognized, defective". The only way to reset the error is to unplug the USB stick from the computer and plug it back in or restart it. Will return.

This device does not support EDID. That means it doesn't send any monitoring information to either port. If you connect it to two different computers (that's how you'll probably use it), the computer that's not connected thinks the monitor is completely gone, and on most modern computers all the windows on that monitor will go away. Conclusion ahead: if you notice your single clicks are being treated as double clicks, try a different mouse . This is a great KVM. I had a similar one back in the days of serial devices and VGA monitors, so it's nice to have this update for USB and HDMI. This works better than the replaced device, although there is an annoying message that the device is not working properly. I contacted tech support about this issue on windows 10 hoping there is a driver update to remove this warning. Unfortunately it isn't.

I have a personal desktop and a work laptop, this device allows me to switch between two computers. The laptop connects easily and saves space - now I only have one monitor, keyboard and mouse.
