Very impressive. - Multitester

Great little gauge. First, it has a place to attach a strap with a magnet. It takes readings faster than my big box Extech and then seems accurate. I like that it's small. Easily fits in a cargo pocket with another item. I used to have a Fluke 117 with me but in my current job I only need to read voltage and resistance so this was a great tool for that.

Pros
  • This is amazing

not perfect but who?

I bought this gauge to add to my "travel toolkit” (AKA pickup truck). I already have a nice (and expensive) Fluke 179 that I have at work. on the go or at home so I don't have to take my Fluke with me. It seemed like the best option for a relatively inexpensive take-away DMM. It lacks a few features that the Fluke has, BUT this gauge costs about 10% as much as the Fluke and has enough accuracy for pretty much everything I'd probably need a gauge for. It really comes down to this question, does…

CHECK THIS BEFORE YOU TOUCH!

Triplet has always been the best manufacturer of multimeters and other precision testing tools. Last year, when my old Radio Shack multimeter stopped working (yes, the one with the DIAL on the front), I decided it was time to go digital. I'm always checking batteries, outlets, fittings, continuity, and other low-tech measurements for things I'm either fixing or don't want this surprise to be "SHOCK". This little guy does a great job at a great price. The interesting thing is that more and more…

Good compact multimeter

Great for everyday work or to keep in a travel repair kit. The first one I received was defective, with no continuity signal. I sent it back and got a quick replacement from Revain. It lasted over six months, except when it appeared to overvoltage on a resistance test and blew an internal fuse and capacitor. They were easy to swap out and have been working great ever since. PROS: - Compact, light weight, strong enough for its size - Good, clear display - Measures frequency and capacitance and…

Great electrical tester

I've bought a few cheap testers over the last few years. They tend to be inaccurate, fail, and worse, use exotic batteries that are hard to come by. The equally inexpensive Triplet 1101-B is a class better. The display is nice and large and can be backlit if necessary. The device is solid and so far very accurate. Two features I really like are the included alligator clips that screw onto the sensors. This allows for hands-free testing, which is great for my motorcycle projects. Another great…

Required for electric guitars; only works up to 10 amps

I have no formal training in electronics and I don't work in this industry. Therefore, I cannot make any claims at this level. I bought this mainly for connecting electric guitars and testing the output of pickups. Basically, I use two settings: 20 kΩ and a continuity meter. What I love most about it and didn't realize until I opened it up is that it comes with an extra set of pins that you can solder to anything. For myself I connected it to the 1/4" instrument cable output jack. This allows…

This is a great, easy-to-use meter that gets high praise.

This gauge is way better than my old cheap but functional Rad Shack smut. Bought on recommendation. T corresponds with a group of experienced electronics repairers and hobbyists. Although they use high-end gauges in their work that cost many times more than this, they tell me that this (and two other) gauges do the job well and perform better than many others that cost more. It has the features I need. Although it has many features, here are the main ones. It can test capacitors (which cheap…

Very solid gauge with excellent grip

PROS: Housing: Thick ABS plastic. I feel like it can take a lot of abuse. Display: Although small, the display is very clear with good contrast. 3 and 3/4 digits are more than typical for an inexpensive gauge. (This is a measure of resolution. Most multimeters in this compact form factor and price range are limited to 3 1/2 digits.) Features: In addition to the usual measurements, capacitance (albeit over a small range), frequency (a few Hz to 10 kHz) and duty cycle. It also automatically…

This is normal, suitable for everyday use, but slows down in some modes.

I recently bought two new multimeters (this one and a BK Precision 2809B). I have other multimeters, an Extech 411, a few other triplet multimeters including a 9005, and an old Radio Shack multimeter that I always had. But none of these other meters were autotuned, none measured capacitance, and only Extech was a true RMS voltmeter. So I bought these two new ones to use on my main desktop and spread the rest over other workspaces. I bought my two new gauges from Revain and I purposely bought…
