Easy to Install: External Components

Love it for the easy install. Just connect the cables at both ends (plus the power supply at the end of the remote monitor) and everything works like a click! The only problem I have is that the screen resolution is reduced on the monitor. I'm not sure why, maybe it's because it's on a Linux machine and it might require some extra setup. (We'll answer the suggestions if anyone has one!). Otherwise, it's an AWESOME opportunity to put your server in another room and not listen to the fan noise…

this is bullshit on KVM switches

bought the first one. it does not work. I bought another one and it didn't work either. A professional installer was hired to use this after I tried and couldn't get it to work. don't buy that. There are other brands that work much better.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Bad documentation. compatibility issues.

With a bit of fiddling it worked. I have a rack of 4 CentOS 8 boxes hosting a virtualization cluster, an HP laptop and a Lenovo laptop over a TrendNet TK-803R 8-port KVM. My initial setup attempts involved a gaming mouse that was causing erratic characters and general expander misbehavior. The documentation was abysmal at explaining the installation, said next to nothing about compatibility, and nothing about troubleshooting. After setup with a regular HP scrolling mouse and Microsoft keyboard,

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • Almost never

Tried to use it as a 4 port USB KVM extender but the local box requires a second power supply which is not included and is no longer manufactured. Tripp Lite offered to buy a second kit to get a second power supply. When the unit is connected to a PC it is powered via the USB port, but when used with KVM only a second power supply is recommended but is not sold with it and you cannot purchase it separately.

  • Best
Cons

Good product, good for KVM switches

This product worked very well to move my noisy Dell workstation out of the room. Everything worked fine, but you can definitely tell there's something wrong on the screen when it's plugged in. It supports 1920 x 1080 resolution but the screen looks a bit strange. I wish I had the right words to describe what it's like. When I have to choose it becomes "crispy". So if you're doing something that needs good colors this isn't your device, but if you need your car in a different space it's great…

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues

Works great at a very reasonable price

Usually with computers you get what you pay for. And that usually led me to buying more expensive versions of this type of device, but I've been VERY happy with my recent purchase of this KVM extender. I had a customer who needed a computer in front of their warehouse for orders and shipping. The problem is that this part of the warehouse is not air-conditioned, it is right by the sea (humid air based on salt water - computer no-no) and always large, heavy packages fall on the table on which…

  • New to my collection
