I am so dissatisfied with this device. Firstly it was sent in an unsuitable box which was destroyed upon delivery and some of the contents were missing. Delivery after 9pm in the dark. If I could see how badly damaged the box was, I would have thrown it out. It was messy because part of the box was wide open. We have mixed feelings about this tree. It conforms to the product description, is very durable and seems like it will take several years for our cats to destroy it. I'll give 4 instead of 5 for three reasons: 1) Two pieces of hardware were missing. The shipping box was damaged with a huge hole (no doubt that's where the two missing pieces went in because I actually found them loose in the box (couldn't the seller put the hardware in a sealed plastic bag? Better) but they wouldn't have one stronger box? 2) My husband is good at assembling, it only took him about 45 minutes even with parts missing. Really great. Excellent quality that has exceeded all expectations. It's so strong and sturdy you can literally remove two bars and it's still holding up great. There's no reason for that, but I discovered it when my friend was trying to assemble it in a hurry without me. Please read the instructions. I'm giving four stars but there are a few things I have to say. Firstly I have two large Armakat towers which are beautiful but one had to be removed as it was old, swayed a lot and the carpet was torn all over. I have two large Maine Coons so I need something permanent. Second, this product and others I have received from Trixie have MUCH better padding than the Armakat and are cheaper. It is very durable, comfortable and aesthetic. My boy is 17 pounds and this time fits the upper well. Enough
