Troxel Dakota Horse Riding Safety Helmet Review

I purchased this to replace my old Troxel Sierra. My old helmet was a small, and I wore it on the smallest setting. This time I measured my head, and it said I wore a medium. The measurements were correct. Don't order the size you think you wear-MEASURE! I haven't worn this yet, but it feels as comfortable as my old one.

I just got mine in the Grizzly Brown color. I love it! To be honest, I chose this helmet really because of the long visor. I love wearing a baseball cap to protect my eyes outside and this is close to that in helmet-form. All helmets feel big and awkward to me (my head is pretty small) but this one feels fairly light and looks sharp-not stupid. I’m going to customize it with decal stickers on the sides. Selected this helmet because of the larger brim - and it does the job. Like that it doesn't look like a schooling helmet and has a baseball cap type brim. It's comfortable - wondering how it will do when summer heat turns up in central FL.

The Troxel Dakota is a really lightweight helmet that meets all safety standards. My main complaint is the interior and chin strap adjustments. It is nearly impossible to keep the chin strap tight enough. Just about any amount of pressure makes is slip looser, which makes the helmet less safe. The interior adjustment is a good idea, but the elastic is not very sturdy and also slips looser while you are wearing the helmet.

Amazing fit! So light and comfortable! Barely know it’s on. It’s five stars except for the scuffs on the side design (it looks like some of it peeled off and it was supposed to be brand new).

I have long been a Troxel helmet fan, but when I needed a new helmet recently, decided to try some other. They were more money and less comfortable, so back to Troxel I went. I felt even better about my purchase after reading an article about helmet safety that explained that the mega-bucks helmets don't actually protect your head any better than the ones in the Troxel range!

This helmet met the expectations as they were promised in the product description. That's all I ever ask. That's my review!

I’m very happy with this helmet. It has ventilation, front & back, & a slightly longer visor, & is so comfortable. 100% satisfied, & I highly recommend it. It also was 1/2 the price of the helmet I have been wearing for 25 years.

Love this helmet. Fit, style and durability are all excellent. It has adjustable elastic straps and padding inside for a perfect snug fit. I got a perfect, super comfortable fit right out of the box. I feel safe in it and so light weight I forget I'm wearing it.

Love this helmet! Fits my daughters head perfectly. I had to log onto the Troxel website to get the measurements for sizing. The amazon seller could be more specific the sizing/Head circumference. But the helmet is awesome and my daughter loves it. Most importantly I feel like she’s safe.

I broke my nose in a fall from hiking. Now I use this helmet, which is great for my confidence, and protection. The visor is great for shade, and is substantial, too.

Attractive, seems well made. Larger visor makes it look more balanced. Fits a little bigger than my other Troxel it seems. Comfortable.

I don't like taking pictures of myself so maybe someday I'll throw this on somebody else and take their picture but until then I just wanted to say that this is the most comfortable helmet I've worn so far. It might be just because it's such a exact fit and I got lucky but even though I've tried a few of the non-click adjustable helmets in the past, just like with hats, I rarely found anything that fits and feels comfortable. This riding helmet is so comfortable and lightweight. It fits perfectly and is very nice looking too. Very happy with it.

Decided to buy this for myself to wear while riding with my son. He just started in 4H and helmets are necessary. I haven't worn a helmet since I was in 4H eons ago. I like the look of this helmet although it is a tad heavy and sits somewhat high. After riding awhile it is fine and I forget I even have it on. It fits very well and I am glad for a more "adult" helmet look. -*** I haven't tried to find the adjustment knob because it fit perfect right out of the box.

THis helmet has a nice adjustable fit, and I use it for trail riding. The visor is a nice feature to keep sun out of your eyes, it is well ventilated and still protective.

I measured my head and this fit perfectly. It’s low profile so I didn’t look like a big mushroom headed rider. Thanks for attention.
