Not sure why this is redundant. The water level needs to be on, otherwise you won't know when to add more water to the filter.

when working, it works normally. It seems that it needs to be tightened or loosened every few weeks to keep it from spilling out of the tap and allowing the filtered water to collect on the floor all night. No leaks at the bottom of the water tank. Leaks in the valve assembly.

This is a very nice addition to a water treatment system. However, the supplied seals do not keep it tight. Because of this, I had to clean up a significant amount of clutter, so I gave it one star. The simple fix is to not use the unnecessary gaskets they ship with you. Just transfer the seals from your original, connect it to the new one and you'll be happy.

Too bad they don't include them by default with their filters. I bought this because I was tired of lifting the top tank to see how much filtered water I had in the bottom tank. It's still a bit of guesswork on how much water to add to the top tank to keep the bottom tank full enough, but it's a lot easier now. Other advantages are that this nozzle has a higher flow rate and protrudes a little further from the tank for easier access.

This glass tube is a must-have for the Berkey water filtration system; otherwise it would be impossible to determine the water level in the lower reservoir and therefore impossible to know how much to add to the upper reservoir. However the washer that came with the nozzle was not thick enough and no matter what my husband did it still leaked until he replaced it with another washer of his own which we were glad we had on hand. After that there are no more problems and it works wonderfully.

Leaks around the gasket where it attaches to the Berkey as others have said. I installed it as is, I did not swap out the rubber pads for those on the stock Berkey spout. I may have to try to change them. I was very careful not to overtighten the nut on the back during installation, knowing that overtightening can cause leaks just as often as undertightening. Installation was easy, construction seems solid but leaks and is unusable. The device in the tank could not be properly sealed. First, I used the rubber grommets that came with it; leaked. It's very easy to fit a 10" spout to my Big Berkey. Based on other reviews I only reused the seals that were on the original pipe - no leaks. We used the installation as an opportunity to clean the filters and tanks so there were two filters. Works very well and makes it easy to see how much water is left. I've already run through 2 of these pipes and they both leak but in different ways. The first leaked where the sight glass connects to the plastic tube. It dripped all night and now my wooden table it was on has permanent water damage.
