This one was highly recommended on the forum and is new

Installed a few days ago when my remanufactured starter motor which I bought from a major auto parts chain broke after only a few thousand miles. . This was highly recommended on the forum and is new, not refurbished. Its appearance looks more professional than a rebuilt starter. It is made in Taiwan (CR), NOT China (PRC). Big difference. I will update this review if I have any issues with it OR if I want to change the star rating. UPDATE October 2016: still works perfectly! UPDATE June 2017…

Pros

Perfect weekend project.

My 03 Corolla's starter motor would get stuck and slow down over time even with a good battery. The original starter lasted 14 years but it's time to replace it. So I bought this starter. Delivered quickly, I like the appearance. It's reprinted. Anyway, apart from cutting my hands and getting on the bolts, which wasn't too bad, it was an easy swap, maybe 45 minutes. Screws in easily, all connectors fit perfectly. Started and turned much faster than the old starter. Very satisfied with the whole

Perfect fit for 2003 Corolla

This starter motor was perfect for our 2003 Toyota Corolla S with 160,000 miles on it. I'm generally handy and it took me 1.5 hours to install. The review said the number of teeth was different, but I found them the same. It was nice that I didn't have to deal with returns and refunds of the main debit/credit in the local shop, but disposed of the starter at a recycling center. I watched 2 youtube videos that helped. The hardest part was finding the second of the two mounting bolts and…

Quality starter, brand new, not reconditioned.

The OEM starter on my wife's 2004 Corolla started to freeze one cold morning so I decided to replace it with a TYC starter which I am very pleased about. The starter is not modified, but brand new. That's a real plus, as I've often replaced starters and alternators with reconditioned ones in the past, which then failed again within a few months. Another plus is that it's made in Taiwan, not China* and I've noticed that products made in Taiwan seem better, perhaps due to competitive pride in…

Has been working flawlessly for over 2 years. TYC starter in 2004 Corolla

2004 Corolla. Installed February 2014, now in service for 2 years 2 months. Works perfectly. Although slightly different in appearance to the existing Toyota original starter, the TYC is a direct bolt-on - no modifications required, it plugs into the factory wiring harness - no wiring hassles. I installed it myself. I usually gravitate towards high quality Denso rebuilds (I have found that there is a HUGE difference in quality between remanufactured starters - Denso for Japanese/Korean cars…
