🚗 TYC 1-19925 Replacement Starter: Reliable BMW Starting Solution Review

My mechanic installed this on a 2005 MDX in about 30 minutes. Replaced original with a mileage of 250,000 km. Hope this one lasts as long.

Leary was my mechanic when I told him how much I paid for this starter. But he was very impressed with the quality of the starter! He said he rarely does NOT need to relocate a starter and this one does NOT need gaskets.

Installed easily, good quality product. Works as it should, only time will tell how long it lasts. The original factory starter has done 180,000 miles since the car left the dealer but the factory starter costs over $400, this one was a fraction of the cost but can last a fraction of the time. The starter works great after a few thousand miles until it gets frustrated.

Works well so far. I've only had it a month and no problems to report. Here's a little extra tip for anyone changing their own starter. You must remove the battery to install this. While you're at it, remove the metal plate holding the battery and lubricate the transmission shifter just below the metal plate. It's hard to miss. This will help you shift smoothly. I'll update this post if the launcher starts giving me trouble.

I've been using this starter for a little over a year. just out of warranty. So far it worked fine, but suddenly it doesn't work anymore. After examining the battery terminals, fuses and wires, I found that the very short copper braided wire connecting the starter motor to the solenoid had been severed. Perfect for an OEM starter, it worked very easily (needed no gaskets) and started great on the first try. I'm a beginner mechanic and was able to remove and install it in less than 2 hours.
