Poor Wireless Range - Home and Mesh WiFi Systems

I know this is an outdoor unit, but I couldn't get more than 10 feet from it before my signal went off. I use Unifi all the time but have never connected this device. It works for what you need it for, but it doesn't have a very good range. But speeds are good when you're in range. with 120-200 max max. But if you've never installed Unifi routers and a hotspot, I don't recommend them. They require a bit of technical know-how. or you have to hire someone to install them for you.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Blank

Amazing coverage but hard to get mesh wireless to work

I have this setup in a mesh configuration with a UniFi UAP AC-PRO. At first it's more than I thought. The device itself is about the size of a long TV remote, and with the antennas added, the overall length is about 18 inches. So when you use a POE injector you are relying on another peripheral to work with it. In other words, it's really meant for outdoor/office/industrial use, don't expect it to blend seamlessly with your living room decor. It's a bit tricky to set up if you want to use it as

I love Ubiquiti products (completely unbiased review)

I love Ubiquiti products. If you know how to set them up, they just work. This is an upgrade over the Nanos we used for the bridge, mainly because the Nanos are 10/100 based and have gigabit cards. The overall throughput is higher. They work indoors and out, and we install these devices everywhere.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Was difficult to setup and didn't work reliably until it crashed

Super lengthy setup process that had to be repeated 3-4 times until then finally showed up on networks. After connecting my IP cameras to it, it only worked for a while. This hotspot is unavailable for 2 days and then mysteriously starts working for a few hours. A firmware update caused the controller software to no longer be able to find the device. I restarted it every day or twice a day to get it working again within a few hours. I decided to live with an almost daily loss of AP signal, but…

Telephone support is not available. I do not recommend!

Tech support is useless. No phone number to contact anyone. I had to use the chat. Been chatting for over an hour without solving any problems. Wouldn't recommend this product at all.

Poor wireless range for whole house and Mesh Wi-Fi systems

I know this is an outdoor unit but I couldn't get more than 10 feet from it before my signal went dead. I use Unifi all the time but I never plugged in this box. It works for what you need it for, but it doesn't have a very good range. But speeds are good when you're in range. with 120-200 max max. Problem solved with WiFi

I have a Unifi Ap at home. One on the lower level next to our living room and kitchen and one upstairs in the hallway outside the bedrooms. I've noticed that the WiFi doesn't extend far beyond my home. It's annoying because I listen to music while mowing the lawn and when I go into the yard the signal drops out. I decided to test this AP by placing it in the second history window. I was able to get Wi-Fi a few hundred yards from my property line. (I live on 1 acre). This solved my other problem

Pros
  • Doping πŸ”₯
Cons
  • There are defects

NOT for beginners but works better than retail models

Firstly, don't buy this without watching Toasty Answers' U-Tube videos for the initial UniFi hotspot setup. Even as an engineer I couldn't get it to work with his video. The installation instructions are terrible. And forget to contact her. Second, it is NOT plug-n-play unless you already have a UniFi system and other hardware set up. Third, it is a business-class device. So be prepared to spend a lot more time setting up the controller. Software. If you've read online about the need to run a…

Pros
  • Useful for more than intended purpose
Cons
  • Expensive

I used 5 of these on about 50 acres. Once you set them up, the range is amazing and the UniFi control system is great. Once you set them up. Since I'm deploying remote devices, I do the initial setup on the main router before deploying. This is proving difficult. Here's what I found works for both meshed and wired uplinks. 1) Open the packaging and connect the device to your network via Ethernet. UniFi will recognize it and ask you to accept it and update the firmware. 2) Once the firmware…
