Description of πŸ”Œ PoE Splitter 5V [2-Pack] by UCTRONICS - Active IEEE 802.3af Compliant PoE to Micro USB Adapter for Raspberry Pi 2/3, Tablets, Dropcam, and More

What is it - A 5v UCTRONICS PoE splitter to split the PoE signal into micro USB power supply and Ethernet in RJ45, so that non-PoE devices can be powered over Ethernet. Reportedly used on micro USB devices like Raspberry Pi, Amazon Ethernet Adapter for Fire TV, Amazon Cloud Cam, Echo Dot (2nd Gen), Wyze Cam v2, Arlo 2 Pro, ASUS Tinker Board, Nano Pi, Chromecast, and so on. What is PoE - PoE enables you to deliver power and data with a single Ethernet cable, and thus fewer wall plugs are needed and fewer cables are messed. It also helps you extend powerline to where there are no AC outlets nearby but your Ethernet cable can reach, up to 300 feet away from the power source. What’s special about it - PoE to Micro USB. That means it adds plug-and-play PoE support to Raspberry Pi models even they are not 3 B+ and cannot accommodate a Raspberry Pi PoE HAT. It makes full use of PoE switches because the other end of the PoE port could be any micro USB devices instead of a 48V PoE network device. What else is needed - You need an IEEE 802.3af compliant PoE switch or injector to serve as the PSE (Power Source Equipment,) an Ethernet cable with the proper length you need, and devices powered via micro USB. These are not included in our package. Note - 1: Just put the split Ethernet aside if you don’t need the data. 2: For one pack, check B01MDLUSE7; For gigabit PoE switch or a Raspberry Pi 3 B+, check Gigabit PoE splitter B07CNKX14C; For 12V barrel port, check B01MPWW2UV. 3: The Split Ethernet cable does not carry power, but you can add a USB Ethernet adapter to it if your device takes network from USB.

Ideal for powering Raspberry Pi IOT nodes

I've used them with Pi Zero, Pi 1B and Pi 3B. Contrary to what another reviewer has said, I believe that with the 2.4 amp rating they can supply plenty of current for the Raspberry Pi 3B as well as some other circuitry attached to it. My POE source is a Netgear POE switch, capable of delivering over 3 amps of power per Ethernet connection. Raspberry Pi devices are great low-cost IoT nodes, but battery-powered ones aren't practical. So I figured if I was going to run a power cable to them…

Great way to get rid of wall warts

They are great for feeding my Raspberry Pi. They helped me get rid of all the cable clutter. An added bonus I found is that I can use them to power Chromecast and Firestick devices with a Firestick Ethernet dongle.

I should have used POE before

Possibility to lay 1 cable for power and secure data transmission, what don't I like? I was in no hurry to switch to POE. Now I use all my Pi and Unifi hotspots on POE.

No power for Pi: Powerline AC adapter

I bought 2 units to power my Raspberry Pi (both 3b models). They initially turned on with my UniFi PoE switch, but turned off overnight. I couldn't get them to power the Pi again so they're being returned.

Great companion for rPi when using POE

Has been running stable for over a month. I bought this to minimize the wall requirements for my network rack. I am using rPi 2b as Ubiquiti Unifi Controller and it is powered by a Unifi 60w switch. Yes it takes up a POE port but in my case it was worth it as the network is on the UPS and saving another plug makes things easier.
