Now Working Properly: Fish and Aquatic Animals

Good. The heater is now working properly after a bumpy start. The setting seems a bit higher than I'd like - the two digital thermometers stay in the 78.5 to 78.9 range. However, the device is UL listed and smaller than most heaters. It fits nicely in the rear pan of my 20g Innovative Marine tank.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Some Flaws

They don't heat water

I bought a 100 watt and a 300 watt unit and they both won't even start heating my 30 gallons of water. I had both scrolled to the highest settings. plug and play right? I don't have to sacrifice a goat, do I? There aren't any ancient texts I have to read, are there? I mean. What the hell, my poor turtles are cold.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Something else

Works well in a 55 gallon aquarium.

Placed horizontally on the bottom of my aquarium behind the plants below the filter inlet. The temperature in the house drops to 50 degrees at night, and this heater easily keeps the aquarium at a stable temperature of 76 degrees. looks great with the cage and it's very useful to have an out of water temperature controller unlike many other devices. Great price, great product.

  • Lots of positive vibes

Stops working after 5 months

This thermostat never kept the water temperature right. After five months of use, it almost completely stopped working. The temperature dial switch is crap. I made sure I wasn't between temperature settings as the product literature warns. I recently turned the thermostat up to 91 degrees, left it on for two days, and my tank only got to 76 degrees. I replaced it with a cheap PetSmart Top Fin Heater and my tank now holds a constant 82Β°. Don't waste money on it. The thermostat is terrible.

  • Easy to read control panel

Almost 3 years and still working

I have been ordering aquarium heaters for our turtle for 15 years now. The temperature must be high and the heater must be strong because the turtle will push it. I love this heater from UPETTOOLS - the outer "cage" protects it well despite an active turtle and has maintained the water temperature in the aquarium since autumn 2018. All the others I've bought have lasted 6-9 months. This heater is like an energizer rabbit. It still works. It's outlasted countless others, but eventually it's not…

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Unsure

I bought this unit because I thought it would keep my 60 gallon temperature stable. Tank with African cichlids. It is installed horizontally in the water flow. Worked fine for the first week. Then I noticed that the temperature in the tank was slowly rising. Checked the dial to make sure it was "set" to 81F. Set them back to 79 F. The tank temperature continued to rise day by day. Unplugged that heater and plugged the old immersion heater back in and the temp went back to 80F in the tank and…

Aquarium Heaters at Aquarium Heaters & Coolers

I used to use two 200 watt heaters in my 60 gallon aquarium but then switched to this beautiful 300 watt heater. It's quite stunning and I like the look of milky quartz. It's like a functional work of art. The cage/sleeve/guard around the element does not need to be removed, unlike typical aquarium heaters where the element is in the glass and then inserted into the sleeve. So far I like this heater. I don't feel the need to run two heaters to keep the temperature constant, my tank stays right…

  • Great for Outdoor Activities

Often fails even though the temperature in the tank is normal

I bought this heater a year ago and already have to buy a new one to replace it. It worked fine for a while but the outside temperature LED part is heavy and the hook on the suction cup doesn't hold up well so I often find it hanging on the tank. The suction cups on the heater block itself don't hold up well either. All of these things were able to be fixed but for the last 2 months it went into error mode and reported high temps even though the water temp was fine. (I have a separate…
